I could feel that I couldn’t live for much longer.
The feeling of the fact that I was going to die soon made me scared.
I began preparing for my own funeral.
I wrote a will and went to the notary office with it.
I gave all my assets to Rory. She was Laura’s godmother and I believed that she wouldn’t mistreat Laura.
After that, I contacted Mrs. Smith, who used to take care of me back in the Somerfield family.
I gave her a large sum of money and she promised me to take care of Laura for me.
From that day onwards, I began to cook endlessly for Laura. She loved my cooking and I was worried that she would never have the chance to eat any of my cooking after die. I stuffed the fridge full of things that I prepared for her. But that wasn’t enough. I bought two more freezers and filled them as well.
I had also split the food that I prepared for Laura in separate bags before putting them in the freezer.
I had also prepared Laura’s future birthday gifts as well, starting from her 6th birthday to her 26th birthday.
Everything was stored away in the cupboard.
I had also prepared clothes for her for the next 20 years as well. There were four sets of clothes per season for each of the four seasons in a year. 1
I didn’t know if the clothes would still be intact after being left there for too long, but as a mother, this was the best I could do. 1
Laura became more and more quiet. I was busy preparing everything after I died, so I didn’t pay much attention to her.
It was Chris who realized that something was wrong.
“Catherine, I feel that something’s wrong with Laura. I think we should take her to see a psychologist.”
I realized that something was wrong as well after hearing Chris’s words. I then took Laura to see a psychologist.
The result was that Laura was really diagnosed with a mental illness.
After hearing what the psychologist said, I felt that the sky had collapsed for me. I held Laura in my arms as I sat on a bench.
