The onlookers quickly pieced everything together. Someone even recognized Luke as the man who had caused a scene at the banquet.
“So, he’s that scumbag who abandoned the eldest daughter of the Lane family for his first love, and then planned to divorce her to marry her again?”
“He should take a good look in the mirror. She’s totally out of his league!”
“He wants everything handed to him. What a shameless freeloader!”
The crowd, realizing they had been used as pawns in lils drama, immediately dispersed with curses of disgust.
I let out a heavy sigh of relief, burying my face in Ethan’s neck. “Thank goodness for you, darling.”
Ethan hugged me tightly, letting out a proud huff. “I worked hard to make you my wife. With men lurking around, it’s only natural I’d stay on guard.”
I laughed. “With a husband like you, what more could a wife ask for?”
Seeing us like that, Luke’s face twisted in fury. He shoved Mandy hard and yelled, “This is all your fault! Everything’s gone wrong because of you!”
Mandy’s eyes reddened as she pleaded, “Luke, let her go. She doesn’t love you anymore. We’re already married. Can’t we just live a good life together?”
Luke pushed her aside again and snarled. “Live a life with you? Dream on! You and your mother are nothing but liars! You’re broke and useless! You’re not even worth a strand of Anna’s hair. Why would I ever want to live with you?”
Mandy froze in shock. After a while, she responded, “T–That isn’t true! Didn’t you say I was the best woman in the world?”
Luke’s bloodshot eyes glared at her as he roared, ‘You actually believed what I said in bed?”
Mandy’s face crumpled with pain. “Even so, you bailed me out of jail! That proves you still care about me. Otherwise, why wouldn’t you just let me rot in there?”
Luke sneered. “I bailed you out because I wanted you to go after Ethan and ruin their relationship! I was just using you. I’ve never loved you. The only reason I even looked at you is because you vaguely resemble Anna. Otherwise, you wouldn’t even be worth a glance.”
Mandy collapsed to the ground, screaming and crying hysterically.
