But at that moment, he didn’t care.
“That’s fine. Let her sue me. At least if she does, I’ll get to see her in court, right?”
“Mr. Grant, Ms. Jones has made her decision. She will divorce you, no matter what. Even if you don’t sign now, it’ll only take two more years. Nothing will change. Why bother delaying the inevitable?”
Samuel’s resolve didn’t waver. “I don’t care. I will find Bella in these two years.”
Before Jonathan could say anything more, Samuel’s phone ang. It was the police.
“Mr. Grant, we’ve successfully located the last known signal of your wife’s phone. If you’re available, please come

Samuel hadn’t slept a wink all night, and he had gone through an emotional rollercoaster. When he stood up, he felt a wave of dizziness washed over him. But there was no time to waste. After making sure he was fit to drive, he sped off toward the address the police had sent him.
He thought they had finally found Isabella’s whereabouts, but when he arrived, his hopes were dashed.
Before him lay an expansive, desolate piece of land. It was utterly barren except for the wild grass swaying in the wind and the trash scattered across the ground. There was no sign of a person, not even a dilapidated shack where someone could hide.
Samuel rushed to the police car there, his anxiety palpable. “Are you sure Bella was here? In this landfill?”
One of the officers walked up and handed him a phone sealed in an evidence bag. “Mr. Grant, we’re sorry, but all we found at the scene was this phone. It may have been dumped here along with other trash. We haven’t located Ms. Jones yet. The phone was out of battery and automatically turned off.”
Samuel recognized Isabella’s phone immediately and nearly collapsed on the spot.
The officer quickly caught him, steadying him on his feet. “Mr. Grant, are you okay? Do you need an ambulance?” “No…” Samuel refused to faint. He forced himself to stay composed and desperately turned to everyone nearby. Does anyone have a power bank?”
He wanted to unlock Isabella’s phone to see if she had left any messages for him.
The people around him exchanged glances, shaking their heads, clearly at a loss for how to help.
Just as he was about to lose hope, a kind female officer quietly stepped up and handed him a power bank. “Try this. The charging cable might work.”
“Thank you. Thank you so much…”
Samuel’s voice cracked with emotion, and his eyes stung with the threat of tears. He silently prayed to the heavens, begging for a clue that would lead him to Isabella
But fate seemed to have a cruel sense of humor.
The phone’s screen lit up, but all he found were missed calls from him and the bank, as well as unread messages from Jennifer…
