Julian’s face twisted in disgust. The guy who used to be so calm and collected–like the perfect doctor–was nowhere to be found anymore.
It finally hit me that our relationship had been over for a while. That day was just the day I came to terms with it.
A wry smile spread across my face as I thought about the last few years of our marriage and all the pride I had to swallow.
“Julian,” I murmured, “you still believe her, don’t you? After all these years of marriage, after having a kid together, after…”
After he killed me in my past life.
He frowned, irritation written all over his face. “I’ve told you that Vera and I are just friends. I’ve explained it a million times, but you won’t listen. Believe whatever you want. If you’re determined to misinterpret everything, there’s nothing I can do about it.”
The crowd basically condemned me after hearing what he said. They crowded around me, but no one stepped up to help. Their insults came nonstop, each one cutting deeper into my already shattered heart.
“She’s caught red–handed and still won’t own up to it! How can anyone be this shameless?”
