Julian shoved me hard, and I only stopped falling when I crashed into the wall.
Pain surged through my chest like everything was slipping away. My eyes stung with tears, and I couldn’t form any words.
Julian slowly descended the stairs and stood right in front of me. I tried to back away, but my back hit the wall again. I gasped as another wave of pain hit.
“Since you won’t apologize, I will make you feel everything that Vera experienced!” Julian shouted, his anger completely taking over.
He ignored my cries and yanked me by the hair, dragging me out of the courthouse.
A crowd had been waiting for the chance, ready with their “weapons“. When they saw me, they started throwing rotten eggs and vegetables at me.
The foul stench hit me, and my stomach twisted. They kept shouting that I needed to “pay for taking a life“.
However, Julian kept walking, his steps more determined than ever. He was heading straight for the middle of the road.
I had a bad feeling about what he was planning. He was about to shove me into traffic to make me “pay” for what happened to Vera. I took a deep breath, pulled out my phone, and dialed 911.
“Hello, officer? I need to report an attempted murder.” I did my best to keep my voice calm.
When Julian heard me, his eyes went bloodshot, and he slammed his fist down on my head. “How dare you, a murderer, call the police first! Have you lost your mind, Kate?”
Fortunately, the police station was just a few blocks away, so they arrived quickly. Julian had barely dragged me into the street when they stepped in. The crowd of bystanders immediately scattered in all directions.
I quickly told the policemen everything–about the car accident, how Julian and Vera had acted, all the lies they spread, and the violence they’d thrown at me.
When Vera heard my accusations, she started crying right away. “Officer, don’t listen to her. She was just jealous of Jules and me, so she intentionally grabbed the wheel. That’s what caused the crash. Now she’s trying to pin everything on us.”
Julian jumped in, saying, “She’s been unstable from the start. She definitely did this on purpose. Don’t believe anything this lunatic says! If she could hurt her own kid, she wouldn’t hesitate to hurt Vera, who’s basically a stranger to her!”
