Hearing us approach, Mallory turned and smiled at us with softness that sent chills down my spine. The wind swept through her long, glossy hair, creating an almost surreal beauty amidst the chaos. Ashton was the first to speak, “Mal, the baby’s still too young to be in this chilly weather.”
Her eyes were filled with confusion. She glanced down at the baby in her arms and instinctively held him closer.
