Maybe she was just angry and needed a few days to cool off before coming back to him.
He tried to comfort himself with these thoughts.

Ten days passed, then half a month, then a full month.
There was still no word from Vivienne. Grace snuggled into his
embrace. “Honey, you did so much for me back then, and now
I’m back. I know I’ve always been in your heart. When Vivienne returns, will you divorce her? I’ll marry you.”
Cian stared at his silent phone, irritated by Grace’s words. He had never allowed Vivienne to call him “honey.”
It had been a month since she left in a huff.
Cian replied impatiently, “Don’t call me ‘honey‘ anymore. I think our relationship is fine as it is.”
Grace exclaimed in surprise, “You want me to be your mistress?” “You weren’t even my first, and you’ve been divorced. Why would I want someone who’s been married before?”
“Cian, you never used to speak to me so harshly. Have you fallen in love with Vivienne?”
In the past, Cian always said everything was for her, but now he no longer directly answered her questions.
Grace felt humiliated and resentful. “Cian, Vivienne is the real mistress here!”
“Vivienne is my fucking darling!” Cian snapped at her, throwing her to the front door. “This is my home with my darling. You don’t belong here. Get out.” He returned to the living room and sent a message to Vivienne.

“Darling, come back. You win. I won’t make you apologize to
Grace anymore.”
He paced anxiously back and forth in the living room.
Vivienne still didn’t reply.
His heart raced as a terrible thought crossed his mind: What if. Vivienne had fallen into the lake?
He quickly arranged for people to drain the lake’s water over five days and nights.
Just as he was feeling relieved that Vivienne’s body wasn’t found, a worker rushed up to him in a panic, handing him something.
It was the necklace he had given Vivienne that day.
He completely lost his footing, unsure if Vivienne had simply lost it or if she had fallen to the bottom of the lake, her body… But he was her husband. If anything had happened to her, he would have been notified immediately.
It’s okay, it’s okay… he mumbled to himself.
In the end, he fainted, and his assistant had to carry him back home.
Cian refused to accept news of Vivienne’s death and had people investigate.
No matter how much they searched, it was as if she had never

existed.
In his moment of despair, there was a knock at his door. He thought Vivienne had cooled off and come home.
Instead, what awaited him was her death certificate. He couldn’t believe it, struggling to maintain composure as he grabbed the messenger.
“Dead? Impossible. Her body wasn’t in the lake. She’s playing a cruel prank on me, right?”
The person said, “Miss Winters passed away a month ago. Her remains have already been taken care of.”
Cian exploded in rage, “She’s my darling! I should have been the first to know if she died. Who dared to dispose of her body without my knowledge?”
“I’m afraid I don’t know that.”
The fragile defense Cian had built to comfort himself
completely crumbled.
Vivienne was dead… She died that night he left her.

After a day of anguish, his tears had run dry. He listlessly began sorting through Vivienne’s old belongings.
In the drawer were the face masks she always kept on hand.
She had ruined her face and could no longer bear to be seen in public.
Beside them sat the wheelchair she had used for three years. He stared blankly at the wheelchair until his vision blurred. His first encounter with Vivienne was in sixth grade.
He had just moved next door to her house not long ago.
One evening, while stargazing, he noticed a little girl kneeling at the neighbor’s front door.
He approached to ask what was wrong.
The pretty, pitiful little girl said her mother had punished her, forbidding her to eat unless she knelt there all night.
He snuck back home, heated up some food from the fridge, and brought it to her.
The little girl was often punished, and he frequently brought her food. They soon became close.
They even attended the same school.
During P.E. class, when the little girl fell, he personally carried
her home on his back.
While playing house, he even said he would marry her when they grew up.
The four years he lived next door to Vivienne were the happiest
of his life.
When they met again, she had already graduated college. The first company she interviewed with was the Prescott family.
Cian saw the familiar name and, remembering their childhood, friendship, made an exception to hire her. After years apart, they had grown distant, and he now had a girlfriend who was
her close friend.
He helped Vivienne with work, without any extra feelings, but Grace became jealous.
She threatened to break up with him if he didn’t ruin Vivienne. To prove his loyalty, he kidnapped Vivienne and took her to a
deserted area, torturing her for a night.
After completing the deed, he went to Grace to seek praise. But what he received instead was news of her leaving the
country.
