Reid learned that Steven had returned home today, and a little scheme began to form in his mind–he wanted to find a way to get Steven away from Yvonne.
When the call connected, he sensed something unusual in Steven’s tone, which made him uneasy. Fortunately, he wasn’t far away. As soon as he hung up. Reid rushed over.
Yvonne had no intention of leaving with Reid. She had already booked a hotel in advance and planned to stay there for a few days.
Reid didn’t insist and took her to the hotel. Along the way, he couldn’t help but smile. Once they arrived at the hotel, he refused to leave.
Yvonne said, “I don’t want to do anything tonight; I just want some peace and quiet.”
Reid glanced at her and said, “I can be quiet with you.”
Yvonne turned her head away while Reid rolled up his sleeves and started tidying up the takeout boxes on the table.
As he tossed the boxes into the trash can, he used a bit too much force, causing some leftover food to spill onto his clothes.
A stain spread across the hem of Reid’s white shirt. He looked down, grabbed a few napkins, and casually wiped at the stain, only for it to smudge further, making him look rather disheveled.
With a helpless sigh, he threw the napkins into the trash and turned back. “I can take a shower and change here, right?”
Yvonne glanced up at him. As the most well–known gentleman in Avaloria, Reid was always impeccably dressed. Walking around in stained clothes would indeed be a bit beneath his usual image.
“Fine. Go ahead,” she said.
Reid turned and entered the bathroom. Soon, the sound of running water filled the room. It was only then that Yvonne realized he had no change of clothes.
After a while, the water stopped. The bathroom door opened.
Yvonne looked up and saw Reid stepping out with only a towel loosely wrapped around his waist. The towel hung precariously, as if it could slip off at any moment, adding an air of casual allure.
His broad chest and well–defined abs were sculpted with precision, glistening with droplets of water that traced their way down his skin before disappearing beneath the towel. Each droplet left a tantalizing trail in its wake.
His face was slightly flushed from the warmth of the shower, and his deep–set eyes carried a relaxed, almost lazy charm.
Yvonne’s cheeks flushed instantly, and she quickly turned her head away. Without thinking, she grabbed a light blanket and threw it at him,

Reid let out a low chuckle, catching the blanket and using it to dry his hair. Meanwhile, Yvonne sat on the edge of the bed, looking down at her phone.
Through the mirror, Reid noticed how indifferent she seemed toward him. He paused for a moment, then tossed the blanket aside and strode directly toward her. Placing both hands on the bed on either side of her, he trapped her between himself and the mattress.
“I don’t have any clothes to wear,” he said, looking at her with an innocent expression.
Yvonne pushed him away. “Have your assistant bring some over.”

Reid grabbed her phone and waved it in front of her. “No battery. Oh, and my phone is custom–made. It requires a spezizi charger.”
“You can use my phone.” Yvonne said.
“I don’t remember the number.” Reid paused, then added, “Why are you looking at me like that? I bet you don’t ever remember your boss’s number.”
“So you’re just planning to stick around, huh?” Yvonne sighed, looking at him with resignation.
Reid grinned and sprawled onto the bed. “That’s right. I don’t want to leave. I know you’re not in a great mood today. I won’t do anything–1 just want to be here for you, to be your emotional trash can.”
Yvonne was momentarily stunned by his words, an indescribable feeling welling up inside her.
She looked at Reid, thinking he was a scoundrel, yet she couldn’t ignore the sincerity and care in his voice. In the end, she didn’t force him to leave.
They agreed to simply lie under the covers and chat–nothing more. Reid did keep his word, except for the occasional mischief from his wandering hands.

Steven’s company specialized in semiconductor chip development. Tonight, he was meeting with a procurement team from Jasperwood, a company with considerable influence in the smart home industry.
This company had secured its place in the market with innovative designs and cutting–edge technology.
Since it wasn’t a formal occasion, after brief introductions, Steven and his business partners quickly transitioned to the usual socializing between men–drinking.
Steven drank a bit too much. His assistant dropped him off at Sharon’s place before leaving.
Perhaps it was because Yvonne had mentioned their past that afternoon, as Steven lay in bed, he fell into a deep dream
He dreamt that, at seventeen, he had failed to rescue Yvonne. She sat silently in the car, casting a cold glance at him through the window.
He chased after the car desperately, his throat growing hoarse from shouting her name. But Yvonne only moved farther and farther away, never once looking back.
Steven jolted awake in shock. For a moment, he was dazed, unable to distinguish between dream and reality.
A searing pain clenched his chest, as though it were being torn apart. Instinctively, he clutched his chest, gasping for breath.
“Honey, what’s wrong?” A voice sounded beside him.
Steven turned sharply. In the dim moonlight, he saw a familiar face–the radiant, youthful Yvonne from his memories.
For a brief moment, it felt like he had returned to the past, overwhelmed by a surge of emotion.
Like a drowning man grasping at a lifeline, he pulled her into a tight embrace, murmuring, “Darling, I was so scared. I thought you were gone.”
His voice carried traces of fear and longing. The woman in his arms chuckled softly, slipping her arms around she reassured him gently, “Where else would I go? We promised we’d never part.”

“Steven, who were you just calling? See who I am?” A sharp voice suddenly shattered the moment’s warmth.
With the click of a switch, the room was flooded with light. Steven instinctively squinted against the brightness
As his vision adjusted, he looked down at the woman in his arms. It was a young face, bearing some resemblance to the Yvonne of his youth. But upon closer inspection, he realized–it wasn’t Yvonne. It was Sharon.

Tears streamed down Sharon’s face, her expression a mix of hurt and fury. “Steven, I knew it! You can’t forget her. What am I to you?” she cried, her voice filled with grievance and pain.
“You jerk!” she yelled, grabbing a pillow and hitting him repeatedly,
Steven pinched the bridge of his nose, his head throbbing, his chest heavy. Sharon’s sobbing and shouting stirred an unfamiliar sense of irritation within him for the first time.
