Chapter 29 Clear Out
Katie observed as Ryan pulled out his phone and stepped aside to make a call.
She kept herself hidden near the emergency exit, making sure Eddie wouldn’t see her if he happened to step out.
When Ryan finished the call and returned, he towered over her, looking down with a calm expression and a tone of quiet arrogance. “Let’s go.”
“Where are we going?”
“To watch the show.”
“Huh?”
Katie followed him into the elevator, and they headed straight to the third floor.
The décor on this level was starkly different from the one below.

She took a quick glance at the man beside her. She had heard that the third floor required a certain membership level to access.
In Hillcrest, it was unlikely that anyone had that high of a membership level.
So how did Ryan manage to come up here so effortlessly? And why didn’t the staff stop him? Instead, they greeted him with extreme politeness.
Katie asked quietly, “I heard the third floor is reserved for higher–level members only.”
“Yeah, I know.”
Katie studied his profile, wondering if he was intentionally avoiding her question.
Obviously, she already knew that.
But what she really wanted to know was how he got up here so easily.
Just as Katie was lost in thought, Ryan abruptly stopped in his tracks, causing her to bump into his back.
He turned his head, his gaze laced with mockery. “Let’s watch the show first. I’ll tell you later.”
Ryan then turned away and walked off. Katie quickly called out, “Where are you going?”
“Restroom.”
Katie glanced at the restroom nearby, but to her surprise, Ryan headed straight for the elevator.

It was then than Katie realized they were standing near the comidor,, where she could clearly see the VIP room on the second floor.

Two servers suddenly appeared, leading straight for Sally, who quickly hid behind Eddie, saying, “Edidie. I’m scared.”
Eddie stepped forward, his tome sharp. “When do you mean by that?”
“Linerally what I said. She’s too noisy. I just want to talk to you.”
Ryan’s voice was cold, his tone firm and uncompromissing.
Eddie began to take notice of the cleared–out area. Was thins all because off this school doctor?
The last time Katie had been with him, Eddie had used all the family’s influence to try and track him down, but there was nothing to be found.
He’d privately looked into Ryan, but the man’s background was a complete mystery.
This Ryan was a puzzle–his origins were unknown and Eddie wasn’t sure whether he waLS deliberately getting close to Kane

Eddie’s curiosity about their relationship grew, and he turned to Sally. “You go wait outside.”
“Eddie…”
“Do as I say!”
Reluctantly, Sally left.
Eddie now focused on the school doctor before him. There was something about him–an air of authority that suggested he wasn’t from an ordinary background.
Eddie asked, “Where is Katie?”
“I don’t owe you any answers, but I’m looking out for her. I don’t want you causing any harm to her before her exam.”
“What do you mean by harm? She’s my sister. I would never harm her. You, however, a school doctor with no clear identity–what are you after?”
Eddie’s suspicion of this school doctor grew.
Ryan’s cold, sharp gaze met his, and his voice carried a tone of finality. “This isn’t something you need to worry about.”
“Katie is my sister. Why wouldn’t I be concerned?”
Eddie recalled how Ryan had called the police last time, forcing Melvin to move out and stay away from Katie.
Ryan stood tall, his hands in his pockets, eyes steely. “You should worry about your false sister and keep your false kindness to yourself.”
As he spoke, the elevator doors opened, and a middle–aged man stepped out.
Eddie quickly said, “Manager, there’s a man here with no clear identity.”
He was hoping the manager might reveal something about the school doctor.
The moment the manager saw Ryan, his demeanor shifted to one of deep respect, and he turned to Eddie. “Mr. Maddison, we’ve cleared the restaurant. It’s time for you to leave now.”
Eddie glanced back at Ryan. “What about him?”
“Mr. Maddison, please.”
The manager didn’t answer Eddie’s question.
Eddie was politely escorted into the elevator by the staff, but his eyes stayed fixed on Ryan, who remained standing with his back to him.

The manager, standing nearby, lowered his head just slightly–a clear indication that this school doctor was no ordinary man.
Eddie suddenly thought of Katie.
When had she started associating with people like this?
He remembered her leaving earlier and noticed the changes in her recently–could it be that Ryan had given her the courage to go against her family?
Eddie’s headache worsened. He needed to get to the bottom of this man’s background.
If Rowan found out, he wouldn’t be so tolerant.
This had to be dealt with quickly.
Eddie pulled out his phone. Katie hadn’t answered his call or replied to his messages.
Katie watched as Eddie left. She looked up and saw Ryan walking out of the elevator. His steps were slow and deliberate, his gaze calm. “They’re gone.”
Katie was a little surprised. “How did you do that?”
Earlier, Ryan had said they would leave, and they did.
Katie had briefly thought he was just boasting, especially since they were in Hillcrest.
Ryan stood before her. “I called a friend.”
“Your friend must be powerful to get access to the third floor and kick people out like that.”
Ryan’s voice remained composed. “He’s alright.”
Katie felt much better, and now she was curious about Ryan. “Who is your friend?”
In Hillcrest, what family could wield that much influence?
Ryan hesitated before answering, “Someone from Thalindor.”
“That makes sense. They must be a super rich heir, right?”
Thalindor was a hub for power and wealth, and Rowan had spent much of his time there.
Thalindor University was the top school in Thalindor.
Katie looked at him curiously. “How do you know such a wealthy person? Are you classmates?”
Was he really just an ordinary school doctor?
