Maggie showed no mercy when she struck. She didn’t care whether Lisa’s face would be permanently scarred. The whip. lashed across Lisa’s cheek, leaving behind a deep, bloody mark. Lisa had no way to dodge as she was pinned to the ground.
“Mom.” Tiffany grabbed Maggie’s hand. “Please calm down. Don’t hit her anymore. Lisa must already know she was wrong!”
She frantically signaled Lisa with her eyes. “Lisa, hurry and apologize to Mom. Stop being stubborn!”
Lisa wiped the blood from her face.
The wound burned, but she was used to it.
Given how much Maggie despised her, it wouldn’t be surprising if she decided to beat her to death right here. However, Lisa knew that she absolutely could not admit to this. If she did, something even worse would surely follow.
“Does she look like she knows she was wrong?” Maggie’s face was livid. “Tiffany, she did something so shameless, and it reflects badly on you too. Yet you’re still defending her?”
“I don’t care about that,” Tiffany soothed. “Mom, please don’t get so worked up. It’s not good for your health.”
“How could I not be angry?” Maggie pointed at Lisa and scolded, “Do you even know what kind of person William is? He’s infamous for his debauchery! No respectable girl in Arglonas would want anything to do with him. But you? You actually threw yourself at him! If he goes around talking about this, how will I ever show my face in public again?”
Nathan, who had been standing nearby, spoke up, “Mom, William already promised he’d pretend this never happened-
Maggie snapped, “Can you guarantee he won’t let anything slip? What if he gets drunk and brags about it like a joke? People might think the Olsens are so desperate we had to send our daughter off to have his child!
Nathan faltered. He really couldn’t guarantee that wouldn’t happen
“Mom, in that case… Tiffany suddenly spoke up. “Why not just let Lisa marry him?”
Maggie narrowed her eyes. “Tiffany, what do you mean?”
Tiffany replied, Lisa likes William, doesn’t she? Let her marry him. If they’re in a relationship–or even married–then it doesn’t matter what William says about today
Maggie narrowed her eyes while Nathan frowned.
“Marry William? I may be friends with him, but his private life is a mess. He’s not a good match,” Nathan said,
A glint of coldness flashed through Tiffany’s eyes.
What was that supposed to mean? Is Nathan considering Lisa’s future!
“I was just saying.” Tiffany said hastily, feigning innocence. “I thought Lisa liked William, so… I just wanted to help her.
Nathan shook his head. “I know you’re kind, but you shouldn’t go along with Lisa’s nonsense,
“I understand. I’m sorry”
“I’m not saying you did anything wrong” Nathan patted his sister’s head. “You just think too simply about these things.”
“I actually think Tiffany has a point? Maggie snorted. “If she’s so eager to get married, then let her.”
Lisa lay sprawled on the ground like a beaten dog, listening as the three of them casually decided her future as if she were nothing more than a bargaining chip. Her fingers clenched into fists.
“No” Suddenly, a calm but firm voice came from the doorway. The person sounded exhausted yet unquestionable. “I disapprove of this marriage.
Tiffany turned around and her eyes lit up with joy. “Mario!”

“M” Mario, the eldest son of the family, was always composed and reserved. But the corners of his lips lifted slightly when he saw Tiffany
“Mario Maggie pulled hun closer, frowning as she looked at him from head to toe. “You’ve lost weight again. Are you skipping meal
Nathan chimmed in. “Mom, you know how it is. Mario has a serious stomach condition and is picky about food. He refuses to cat even if a live star hotel delivers his meals. After a few back–to–back international meetings, it’s no wonder he’s lost weight,

But wasn’t he doing better this past year? Maggie sand with concern. His secretary told me he had been eating properly during the last few conferences
“Tiffany has been busy lately, so I didn’t want to bother her. Mario replied.
Maggie was puzzled. “What does that have to do with Tittany!”
Tiffany’s expression flickered. She glanced at Lisa, who was still lying on the ground, and quickly changed the subject, “Marin, you just said you don’t approve of this marriage. Why
“Yeah, Maggie’s attention shified as expected. “Why not? The sooner we get rid of her, the less she’ll be in my way”
Lisa clenched her paw as she lifted her head to look at Marin.
I’ll be same met
Tve heard about William Mario glanced at Lisa before saying coolly, “He’s a reckless, undisciplined man. Are you sure you want to be related to him?”
Nathan stiffened.
It was one thing to hang out with William for fun, but having him as a brother–in–law would mean that he was family. That was a whole different story.
“I cant believe I didn’t think of that, Maggie nodded. “You’re right. One disgrace in the family is bad enough. If we add Willum to the mix, I might just die from shame.”
Til handle this, Mario said. “You don’t have to worry, Mom. William won’t spread rumors. Maggie hesitated, “I haven’t finished punishing her yet.”
“Mom” Mario lifted his gaze slightly. Let me handle it?
Maggie frowned but eventually relented. “Fine. I’ll leave it to you. Tiffany, come with me. Your ant sent you a necklace the other day. Let’s check it out and see if you like it”
Tiffany happily followed Maggie out of the room, Nathan stretched lazily. “Mario, Fin heading out too. I have a billiards game
later.”
“Mm” Mario nodded.
With that, the servants quickly dispersed. Soon, the grand chapel was empty, leaving only Lisa and Mario
Mario had just returned from work and he was still dressed in his formal suit. He carried an air of authority. Slowly, he knelt on one knee and reached out a hand toward Lisa

He retrieved a first aid kit and took out disinfectant. After seating Lisa on the couch, he carefully began cleaning her wound.
