She wore a black dress, nothing too fancy, but the dark color really made her skin glow, like she was made of cream. Her face
gorgeous, and leaning against the stairs, she looked like a painting brought to
to life
Tiffany stood just a few steps away, dressed in fancy clothes, but she got totally outshined. Everyone ignored the birthday girl and was like, “Who’s that about the newly arrived girl.
Is she a celebrity? She’s gorgeous…
Honestly! Even better than a celebrity! I’ve never seen anyone in showbiz look that good.”
“Wait, isn’t she talking to Mr. Jarrett? Do they know each other?
“So, uh anyone brave enough to ask for her number later?
Tiffany’s lips tightened slightly as she turned her gaze toward Neil.
Neil was caught off guard too, staring for a couple of seconds before finally saying, “Lisa? I almost didn’t recognize you
Maggie’s expression darkened as she turned sharply to Oxcar. “Didn’t I tell you to keep her locked in the attic? How is she out here?!”
Oscar looked flustered. “I don’t know what went wrong.
ang. I’m sure I locked the door.”
He hesitated, then asked, “Should I take Ms. Lisa back upstairs?”
“She’s already shown up in front of everyone–can you drag her out now?” Maggie hissed through clenched teeth. I knew she couldn’t stay out of trouble. Always trying to steal the spotlight. Dressed up like that–is she trying to find some rich man at the party?”
This was really unfair to Lisa.
Lisa was wearing an old dress Maggie had planned to throw out years ago, long forgotten in storage. Her hair was left down, simply brushed, with no styling, no trace of makeup, just her bare face. Among all the socialites in the room, she looked the plainest.
“Lisa,” Tiffany said with a warm smile, reaching out to take her hand. “I thought you weren’t feeling well and wouldn’t make it. I’m really glad you’re here”
Someone nearby asked, “Ms. Tillany, who is this?”
Though she was clearly reluctant, Tiffany’s smile didn’t waver as she replied, “This is my sister–Lisa Olsen.”
Lisa and Tiffany had been born on the same day, though nearly two hours apart. While Tiffany never treated her like a sister in private, she always introduced her that way in public.
Ever since she’d been brought back, Lisa had never appeared in public. For many guests, this was the first time they’d learned that the Olsens actually had two daughters–they were all stunned.
“No wonder I thought she looked a bit like a younger Mrs. Olsen, someone said with a chuckle. “Turns out she is Mrs. Olsen’s daughter Congratulations, Mrs. Olsen–both of your daughters are so beautiful”
“Thank you Maggie replied with a smile. “You flatter me
Now that Lisa’s identity had been revealed, Maggie couldn’t just ignore her. Forcing herself to stay composed, she said, “Lisa, Come here I’ll introduce you to everyone
Lisa nodded obediently and made her way to Maggie’s side. As she walked past Neil, he looked like he had something to say, but Lisa didn’t even pause, leaving behind only a faint trace of her scent
With guests present. Maggie had to play the role of the loving mother, while Lisa acted like the obedient daughter. But Neil kept staring at Lasa Tiffany dug her nails into her palin before speaking in a tone that sounded casual. “Neil, you’ve been

“Oh…” Neil snapped out of it. “It’s only been a year, but she’s changed so much.”
Or more accurately, she was like a completely different person.

The last time Neil laid eyes on Lisa was during a birthday banquet hosted by the Olsens, She had just returned to the family then–nervous, poorly dressed, and so out of place she could’ve been mistaken for an intruder. Nothing about her reflected the poise of a true heiress.
Neil saw that his fiancée was not presentable, so he just went along with the Olsens putting the engagement on Tiffany. But seeing her today…
“You said it yourself–it’s been a year,” Tiffany replied. “Girls dress up for the ones they like. Lisa probably found someone she’s into, so of course she’s making an effort.”
“She has a crush?”
“Yeah.” Tiffany tilted her chin toward the crowd. “See that guy in the striped suit, standing next to Nathan?”
Neil frowned. “Isn’t that William? His reputation’s terrible…”
“Well, everyone has their own taste.” Tiffany said with a smile. “Maybe Lisa’s just into playboys like him.”
Neil frowned with concern. “Lisa’s sull young. I hope she’s not being deceived by William.”
“I don’t think so,” Tiffany replied lightly. “She’s the one who approached William first.”
That only made Neil’s frown deepen.
“She’s definitely being misled by him,” he muttered. “I need to talk to her about this later.”
“Neil, you never paid this much attention to Lisa before. Don’t tell me now that she’s gotten prettier, you suddenly can’t look away?” Tiffany said with a teasing smile.
Neil said, “Why would you think like that? I’ve always seen Lisa as family. Her looks have nothing to do with it.”
Tiffany said, “I was only joking, don’t be mad. Come on, Mom’s calling us.”
Many relatives of the Olsens came, Maggie of course had to take Tiffany to greet them, and Lisa got to meet some of them
- 100.
“The two children are all grown up, when are we gonna have a wedding One of the old Olsens was grinning, saying. “Look how perfect they are together, their kids are gonna be adorable.”
Maggie smiled. “We’re thinking of getting them engaged after graduation.
“Wonderful, wonderful! An engagement sounds perfect. The old lady eagerly grabbed Neil’s hand, then reached for Lisa’s as well. “Once you’re married, give it your best. I’m counting on you two to give me a great–grandchild!”
The room fell into silence.
Tiffany’s smile froze on her face.
Maggie quickly said, “Aunt, you must be mistaken–this is Lisa. The one engaged to Neil is Tiffany
As she spoke, she grabbed Tiffany’s hand and placed it in the elderly woman’s paint “Here, take a look. This is Tiffany.”
Unexpectedly, the old lady pushed Tiffany’s hand aside and snapped, “Don’t take me for a senile old fool! Tiffany isn’t even your biological daughter!”
Tiffany’s face turned ashen
2/3 “Lisa is your biological daughter,” the elderly woman emphasized. “How could you raise someone else’s child as your own and der the one who’s truly yours! That engagement was meant for Lisa and Neil–what does it have to do with Tiffany?“
In almost two decades, no one had ever said anything like that to her directly.

a while?
The old lady’s daughter–in–law hurried to smooth things over. “You must be tired. How about we take a sit
“What did I say that was wrong?” the old lady shot back, loud and firm. Tiffany isn’t their biological daughter to begin with!”
