With a thud, William was knocked back several steps. Lisa seized the chance to run, but with her long skirt restricting her movement, there was no way she could outrun him.
William cursed under his breath, grabbing Lisa’s hair. She gasped in pain, shouting, “Let go!”
“Dammit, you’re asking for trouble.” William’s face darkened with anger. Though he was furious, he stopped himself from hitting her. Instead, he yanked her into his arms.
