Chapter 25 Luther Carter
The man stood up and sat down in the chair across from her. “Yes, we’ve met.”
Lisa couldn’t recall it.
With such striking features, if she had seen him before, she surely would’ve remembered.
Suddenly, a flash of realization hit her, and she stared at him in disbelief. “It’s your
“Last time, when I found you by the roadside, you were covered in injuries, the man said calmly. “How could you be bullied like this in your own home?”
Lisa’s nose tinged with a faint ache.
It was precisely because it was her home that she ended up being treated like this.
Tve been wanting to thank you, but I didn’t have a way to contact you,” Lasa said. “Would you mind sending me the medical
The man raised his gaze. “Do you have the money to pay me?”
Lisa fell silent.
She had originally received 10,000 from Riley, but after Peter was fired, she gave all of it to him. Now, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say she had nothing left.
“No,” Lisa munered, “But when I love the money, I’ll pay you back.
“When will that be
Lisa hesitated. “I don’t know yet.”
Maybe she could write another song for Riley? But right now, she had no inspiration at all.
“Come with me the man said as he stood up. “I won’t charge you for the medical bills.”
The Olsen Mansion was vast, and even though Lisa had been living there for almost two years, there were still many areas she hadn’t explored.
It wasn’t that Lisa didn’t want to explore, but everyone hated her, so if she went out, she’d just annoy them. So, she just stayed in her room, like a turtle hiding in its shell–pathetic, but at least it felt safe.
For example, the place she was entering now was somewhere she had never been before. She’d only overheard the servants talking about it, saying it was meant for hosting distinguished guests and rarely opened to anyone else.
Entering the room, it was as magnificent as expected–more luxurious than the living room. “Check the injury on her face,” the man said casually as he sat down on the sofa, giving orders.
“Who?” The person sitting on the sofa, looking at their phone, looked up. “You brought someone back?”
He turned his head and locked eyes with Lisa. Two seconds later, he sprang to his feet. “We meet again, girl” “Hello, Doctor,” Lisa said, equally surprised.
“This isn’t a hospital, no need to call me “Doctor, the man said with a smile. Im Luther Carter, Just call me Luther” William said the same thing to Lisa before, and back then, she ignored him. But facing Luther, she obediently replied, “Luther”
“Ah, Luther’s smile widened “You’re as cute as ever. I spend my days surrounded by boring old men, and it’s starting to drain all my enthusiasm

“By the way, how did you get hurt again? Didn’t your previous injuries even heal yet?”
Lisa managed a weak smile.

“Lift your head, let me take a look, Luther said, frowning. That was a tough hit–half of your face is swollen. Wait here, I’ll get an ice pack.”
Lisa quickly grabbed the edge of his shirt. “I–I’ll go with you.”
“Just sit and wait for me.” Luther realized something, and said with a smile, “You’re scared to be alone with him, huh? Don’t worry, he won’t bite. Just be good.”
With that, he left, and Lisa stood awkwardly by the sofa, nervously twiddling her fingers.
“You still haven’t told me your name,” the man suddenly spoke up. “Is this how you treat someone who saved your life?”
Lisa quickly responded. “My name is Lisa.”
Lisa?”
Lisa said, “Yeah, Lisa Olsen.”
The room fell silent again. After a while, Lisa stole a glance at him, only to find he was still focused on the laptop on the desk, looking absorbed in his work.
Lisa lightly tapped her leg, still feeling the pain in her ankle from the twist. Standing was becoming a bit unbearable.
“I’m back,” the door opened again, and this time, it wasn’t just Luther who entered, but also the man from earlier, Wesley Reid.
Lisa widened her eyes slightly when she saw him. Wesley smiled and placed a tray on the coffee table. “Ms. Lisa. I’m sure you haven’t eaten yet. Here, have something to eat
“Thank you.” Lisa replied, then added, “I never got a chance to properly thank you for helping me earlier.”
“No need to thank me.” Wesley said. Including bringing the food, everything was my boss’s instruction.”
Lisa turned in surprise, meeting the man’s gaze.
“I told you, he won’t bite, Luther said, handing her the ice pack. “Put it on the swollen area.”
The coldness helped ease the burning sensation on her cheek, and the tension in her furrowed brow gradually relaxed.
All this kindness she received in one day freaked her out. She suspected whether these people had ulterior motives. Otherwise, why would strangers help her?
