Chapter 31 Let Me Bite You
Lisa hesitated. “Let … you see?”

The injury ran from the middle of her back up toward her shoulder blade. If Flint wanted to see it, wouldn’t that mean she’d have to undress?
“It’s already getting better,” Lisa said as she tugged her collar to the side, revealing a glimpse of her shoulder. “There’s still a small bruise, but it doesn’t hurt anymore.”
Her skin was as pale as snow, making the purple bruise even more prominent. Flint squinted slightly, looking like he might reach out to make sure she was telling the truth. Before he could do anything, a voice cut through the air like a whip. “What do you think you’re doing?!”
Startled, Lisa spun around and saw Neil running toward them, his face twisted with rage. Without a word, he stepped between them and pulled her behind him, his voice icy cold. “Who are you?”
Flint’s gaze sharpened.
He always had a distant look, but this moment made him seem even more intimidating. Neil felt a sudden jolt in his chest.
“Lisa,” Flint said calmly, “why don’t you explain who I am?”
Neil looked back at her. “Lisa?”
He hadn’t even come to see Lisa today–his original plan was to visit Tiffany. He’d been overseas when she only managed a phone call. Now that he was finally back, it felt right to check in on her.
But the last thing he expected to see was Lisa being harassed by a stranger.
got sick,

“H–He’s … one of Dad’s guests,” Lisa stammered, feeling nervous as both men stared her down.
“if he’s just a guest, then why is he touching the host’s daughter?” Neil said darkly. “That’s not how guests are supposed to act.”
Flint gave Lisa a pointed look. “A guest, huh?”
“Bernard is planning to hand you over to me. Maybe you should let him know that too,” Flint said evenly.
Before Lisa could open her mouth, Neil lost it.
“What did you just say?!” he snapped. “Lisa, he’s making that up, isn’t he?”
Lisa shook off his hand. “What does that have to do with you?”
Then she added with a small smirk, “My brother–in–law?”
Neil froze.
Lisa,” he whispered, “Don’t act on impulse. You said before that you liked me and wanted to marry me.”
A dull ache spread through Lisa’s chest.
She remembered everything.
Back when she first came to the Olsen family, nobody really welcomed her–except Neil. He was kind and respectful, never mocking her for her background. He treated her like she belonged.
It made sense for an innocent girl to develop feelings for him–especially since she believed she was engaged to Neil.
She had no clue that once she disappeared, the Olsens turned around and gave her engagement to Tiffany instead. She truly thought she was Neil’s fiancee and acted accordingly–doing a bunch of silly things because of it.
One time, on Neil’s birthday, she worked up the courage to tell him how she felt. But he gently rejected her, saying he only thought of her like a little sister.

From then on, she wasn’t allowed near him. Neil started avoiding her, and whenever he wanted to see Tiffany, he arranged to meet her somewhere else–never coming back to the house.
“But didn’t you say I was like a sister to you?” Lisa said, yanking her arm free. “So why are you meddling in my business now?”
“Lisa!” Neil’s voice grew sharp. “Don’t make a rash decision. This is about your future!”
“And who gave you the right to decide that?” she shot back.
Neil was stunned into silence.
He turned a glare toward Flint. “I’ll speak to Uncle Meng and figure out what’s going on!”
Lisa didn’t respond.
Even if Neil found answers, nothing would change. Bernard had always put Tiffany first. Lisa? She was never a priority.
“You sure care a lot about your fiancé,” Flint commented. “With how worked up he is, maybe there’s still something between you.”
Lisa sighed. “If you actually knew my family, you’d realize he’s engaged to Tiffany.”
“But you didn’t deny you had feelings for him,” Flint said.
Lisa paused and shrugged. “Everyone has a dumb crush at some point in their life.”
Flint gave her a long look. “Come here.”
Lisa froze. She didn’t want to, but refusing didn’t seem like an option either. So, she cautiously stepped closer. “What do you want–ah!”
Her eyes widened in shock.
Flint had leaned in and bit her ear!
He didn’t go too hard, but it was enough for her to feel it–and enough to leave a small mark.
“Mr. Hale?!” Lisa covered her ear. “Why would you do that?!”
“Did it hurt?” he asked, unfazed by her reaction.
“Let me bite you and see how you like it.” she snapped.
Flint chuckled. “You’ve got a bit of fire in you.”
