Chapter 36 A Fake Dress
Chapter 36 A Fake Dress
Back then, Lisa had feelings for Neil. When he gave her a mango pancake, she held it like it was the most precious thing in the world—even though she was allergic to mangoes. But before she could even take a bite, Winona marched over and smacked it out of her hands.
Lisa didn’t get mad. That wasn’t her nature. Instead, she quietly crouched down, trying to pick it up. Winona just stood there with her arms crossed, looking down at her with a mocking smirk. “Neil, look at her,” she said loudly. “Like some mangy stray dog that’s never seen a dessert before. It’s gross–she actually wants to eat it off the floor?”
Lisa froze in place, stunned and humiliated. Neil looked awkward, sighed, and pulled her to her feet. He used his handkerchief to wipe her hands gently. “You don’t need to act like this anymore,” he said softly. “This isn’t the countryside. You can let go of those habits. The floor’s filthy.”
She wished she could tell him, “That’s not it–I only cared because it came from you … ”
But Neil didn’t give her the chance to say anything. Maybe he never really wanted to hear it.
Later, Winona turned the situation into something to talk about, sharing it with everyone she knew. When Maggie learned what had happened, she believed Lisa had made the family look bad and didn’t let her leave the house for a few days.
That day had been the start of Lisa and Winona’s long–standing grudge.
“Oh please, Lisa’s been stuck at home this whole time. She wouldn’t have had the chance to get anything done to her face,” Tiffany joked when Winona commented on Lisa’s appearance. “You probably just haven’t seen her in ages.”
Winona had missed Tiffany’s birthday party because she was out of the country. Now, she gave Lisa a long look, her eyes narrowing with interest. Stepping closer, she reached out and held Lisa’s arm. “Hold on–isn’t this the latest summer collection from Hermey you’re wearing?” she asked, sounding impressed.
Lisa blinked. She didn’t know much about designer brands, but she had overheard Tiffany and Maggie chatting about this dress while flipping through a catalog.
Winona’s words turned heads instantly. A few girls looked shocked. “I thought it looked familiar!” one of them said. “I wanted to get that dress, but it was sold out everywhere!
“Wasn’t this the one that was a global limited release?”
Someone else chimed in, “Tiffany, you actually let your sister wear something that stunning?”
Tiffany shrugged and said, “Let her? Please. It’s not like I gave her leftovers after snatching up all the good stuff. She paid for it herself.”
“Wow, sounds like Lisa gets treated like a princess at home too.”
‘Didn’t someone say Maggie couldn’t stand her?”
Lisa frowned slightly.
Was all of this… staged? Was Tiffany dressing her up just to make it look like the family was treating her well? “That doesn’t add up,” Winona said slowly, a smirk tugging at her lips. “If I’m not wrong, there was only one of this whole country. And I heard a major VIP snatched it up the second it dropped. So how did Lisa end up with it?”
For a second, the room went quiet, then people began murmuring. “I completely forgot until Winona brought it up! I couldn’t get my hands on that dress either–there was just one in the whole country.”
“At the launch event, someone grabbed it the second it dropped. I heard it went to their top global VIP. There’s no chance Lisa could’ve been the one who got it!”
“Don’t tell me she’s wearing a fake?”
The mood in the room shifted fast.

Chapter 36 A Fake Dress
These girls, used to lives filled with privilege and endless spending, had zero patience for anything fake. To show up at a high proble birthday party in a knockoff? That was basically social suicide,
Lisa, what’s your problem?” Shania frowned. “Are you seriously wearing a fake to my birthday party? Are you trying to embarrass me?”
And suddenly, everything clicked for Lisa.
This had been planned all along
“Tiffany gave me this dress,” she said clearly.
“Oh, please,” Winona snorted. “Like Tiffany would give you something fake. She just said you bought it yourself, and you didn’t correct her”
“Right,” Shania added sharply. “Don’t try to dump this on Tiffany just because she’s being nice about it.”
Lisa turned to her. “Tiffany, you gave me this dress, didn’t you?”
Tiffany hesitated, then said, “I’m sorry, Lisa, I had no idea. Maybe one of the housemaids switched it or something. I didn’t mean for this to happen.”
“That’s enough Winona snapped, yanking Tiffany away and pushing her toward Lisa. “Now you’re threatening Tiffany? She’s trying to cover for you, and you think we’re all too dumb to notice?”
“You’ve got it all wrong.” Tiffany said quickly. “I did give it to Lisa. She probably didn’t realize it wasn’t the real one…” “Tiffany!” Shania scolded, clearly annoyed. “You always defend her. It’s no wonder she keeps using you.”
