“See? This is why they say a leopard can’t change its spots. You can take her out of the small town, but you can’t take the small town out of her. The Olsens‘ daughter, wearing fake stuff? If this gets out, people will think the Olsens are going bankrupt,” one of them sneered.
“How embarrassing! If she couldn’t get it, she couldn’t get it. There are so many beautiful clothes out there. Why wear something so fake?” another added.
“Why else? It’s pure vanity. That dress is the only one in the country. She probably thinks we’re all jealous of her for wearing it,” came the sarcastic reply.
“So it’s just her vanity?” someone asked.
Shania’s face went cold.
She glared at them and said, “Leave my birthday party. You’re not welcome here.”
“That’s right! We don’t want anyone here wearing fake clothes,” another chimed in.
“I don’t want anyone thinking I’m here with someone wearing fakes. They might think I’m wearing them too!” someone else added.
“Get out!” someone shouted.
Lisa had only come to please Bernard. Now, with everyone pushing her out, she had no reason to stay.
Her reputation? It didn’t matter.
She was leaving Arglonas after graduation. None of this was important.
Without a word, Lisa turned to leave. But just as she reached the door, a hotel waiter knocked. “Excuse me, is Ms. Olsen here?” he asked.
Everyone exchanged looks. Winona nudged Tiffany. “It’s for you!”
“That’s me.” Tiffany frowned. “What’s going on?”
“Well, the waiter said, “a gentleman asked me to give you a gift. He saw this dress before and thought it’d be perfect for you, so he bought it. He ran into me today, and I’m here to deliver it.”
“Another admirer of Tiffany’s!” Shania laughed. “He’s chasing you all the way here.”
“Let’s see what it is!” Winona teased.
Tiffany hesitated, her face turning pink. “That’s not necessary … If Neil finds out, he’s going to be cranky.”
“My brother’s not that petty,” Winona said, snatching the gift bag. “Since you’re a little too reserved about it, I’ll open it for
you.”
She pulled the gift out and unfolded it. Inside was a dress–almost identical to the one Lisa was wearing.
But this one was more refined, the stitching more precise.
The room went silent.
They stared at Lisa, then at the dress in Winona’s hands, completely confused.
The waiter smiled at Tiffany. “By the way, Ms. Olsen, that gentleman mentioned the dress we sent earlier was a mistake. It was actually a practice piece made by his cousin, who’s studying fashion design. He hopes you won’t mind.”
The group froze in confusion.
So, Lisa’s dress wasn’t fake? It was just a mix–up? But it had clearly been on Lisa …

“Oh, one more thing,” the waiter added. “I just wanted to confirm. The gentleman mentioned there were two Ms. Olsens here today. To avoid any mistakes, may I ask if you’re Ms. Lisa?”
The room went silent.
Tiffany took a moment to process the information before forcing a smile.
She grabbed the dress from Winona’s hands and handed it to Lisa. “Lisa, this one’s for you.”
Lisa stood there, stunned, with no clue who had sent the dress.
“So, you’re Ms. Lisa? I’m so sorry,” the waiter continued. “There’s also a key for a room in the bag. The gentleman said if you’d like to meet him, you can go straight to him.”
“Thanks,” Lisa murmured, her voice barely audible.
The waiter nodded and quietly left the room. “Enjoy the rest of your day.”
Lisa thought for a moment, then spoke up. “I’m sure you can all tell whether this dress is real or not, right?”
Winona’s face darkened, her voice sharp. “What’s there to be proud of? You didn’t even buy it! Someone else gave it to you!” Lisa raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence. “Then why hasn’t anyone sent you anything? I bet you’d love it.”
Winona was silent.
“Sorry, Ms. Burton, for ruining your birthday party,” Lisa said, her tone calm. “Since I’m not welcome here, I’ll leave now.” Shania, no longer dismissive, grabbed Lisa’s arm. “No, wait! It was all a misunderstanding. You shouldn’t take it personally. If we’d known you knew the person who bought the dress, none of this would’ve happened.”
“That’s right, Lisa. Can you tell us who that big shot is? We’ve heard he collects all kinds of jewelry and clothes. Everyone’s dying to know!”
“Lisa, can you take us to him?”
“I’d love to see his collection. I was obsessed with that sapphire last time, but he outbid me for it at a crazy price…
