Chapter 41 Jealous Tiffany
Chapter 41 Jealous Tiffany
Xavier spoke casually, but his words hit Tiffany like a punch to the gut.
“Speaking of which,” Tiffany said, furrowing her brows. “Lisa, I’m really sorry. The maid must’ve grabbed the wrong dress. I didn’t mean to-”
“What happened?” Xavier asked, cutting her off.
Tiffany quickly explained. “I didn’t want Lisa to misunderstand, so I tried to hurry back and explain. But Shania and the others wouldn’t let me go… Lisa’s probably even more upset now.”
“That’s nothing,” Xavier said with a shrug. “Lisa won’t be mad at you. Don’t worry.”
Lisa’s voice was flat as she replied. “I never said I wouldn’t be mad.”
Xavier shot her a stern look. “Lisa. Do you really think Tiffany would try to mess with you? She’s always been good to you. When are you going to stop being so paranoid?”
As soon as Tiffany spoke, the faint warmth between the siblings vanished.
“But she did give me a fake one,” Lisa said, her voice colder now. “Am I paranoid for thinking that?”
Xavier sighed, clearly frustrated. “It was the maid’s mistake. Why make such a big deal out of it? We’re family. Why complicate things?”
Lisa’s lips curled into a bitter smile.
Xavier didn’t have to deal with the shame, the mockery. It was easy to talk big when someone else was hurt.
“This ends here,” Xavier warned. “Don’t bring it up again.”
Lisa stayed silent, knowing further argument wouldn’t help.
“And one more thing,” Xavier said, his voice cool as a new thought crossed his mind. “That dress you’re wearing? Take it off, wash it, and give it to Tiffany.”
Lisa’s fingers gripped the fabric tighter. She glared at him. “Why should I?”
Xavier shrugged, indifferent. “Tiffany’s a loyal customer at that store. She buys the seasonal stuff every year. She really liked that dress, but couldn’t get it. You wouldn’t even get it, so what’s the big deal Just give it to her.”
“I don’t need to understand to like it,” Lisa snapped. “I don’t want to give it to her.”
Normally, Xavier would’ve fired back, but today, the atmosphere felt different. He held his temper. “Tiffany has given you so much since you came back. She’s your sister, and you can’t even give her one dress?”
Tiffany stepped in, her voice softer. “Xavier, it’s okay. Don’t pressure Lisa. I don’t even care that much.”
“You don’t even care that much about it, but you had someone make it just for your collection?” Xavier’s voice was sharp. “It’s just a dress, Lisa. Quit being so petty.”
Lisa shot back, her eyes narrowing. “If it’s just a dress, why does Tiffany still want to take it from me?”
Xavier’s face darkened. “I said that, not Tiffany. This has nothing to do with her.”
Lisa scoffed. “You two really are close, huh? But if you care so much about Tiffany, why don’t you just get her a new one? I like it as much as she does. Why should I just hand it over?”
Tiffany looked uneasy, guilt twisting her face. “I’m sorry, Lisa. I don’t want it. Please don’t be mad…”
Xavier pulled Lisa behind him, his face stormy. “Lisa, every gift Tiffany’s given you has been a sacrifice on her side. Why’s it so hard for you to give her one thing?”

Lisa’s voice was icy. “You’re right. I’m just a country girl. I don’t know much. The little I have, I hold onto. So, don’t think you can take it from me”
Her mood soured, and she lowered her gaze. She was done. Xavier snapped. “Where do you think you’re going? Stop!”
Lisa ignored him, heading for the door.
Xavier’s patience ran out. He threw the paintbrush, his voice harsh. “Lisa!”
The brush–a big flat one, heavy with paint–hurtled through the air and slammed into Lisa’s forehead. She staggered back, a lump instantly forming
The brush fell, leaving streaks of dark red paint across her skirt. It looked like blood, stark and jarring.
Xavier froze, realizing what he’d just done. “I didn’t mean to-”
Lisa’s hand gripped the edge of her skirt, staring at the ruined fabric. She bit her lip, the anger burning inside her.
The oil paint was impossible to clean, and the dress was delicate. Even if she washed it, it would never be the same.
“Can’t have it, so you destroy it… typical of you,” Lisa murmured, her voice cold.
“I didn’t do it on purpose!” Xavier snapped, frustration spilling out. “I didn’t know it would land like that! If you hadn’t been so stubborn, I wouldn’t have thrown it!”
Lisa’s eyes glinted with ice. “You’re making this my fault?
