Chapter 55 Not as Good as Lisa
Chapter 55 Not as Good as Lisa
“It’s alright. It’ll get better soon,” Tiffany said as she poured the chicken soup into a bowl, her voice carrying a hopeful tone. “Why don’t you have some soup first?”
Mario hesitated but eventually took the bowl. He tasted a spoonful, then furrowed his brow. “It’s different from before.”
“I made a few changes to the recipe,” Tiffany said, pausing for a second. “Is it that much of a difference?”
“Yeah,” Mario replied flatly.
Tiffany clenched her fist tightly, though her face remained composed. “So … do you prefer the old one or the new version?”
Mario casually placed the bowl back on the table. “The old one.”
Her nails dug into her palm, the sharp pain almost unbearable. Tiffany fought to suppress her anger as she brought out the other dishes. “Well, eat up. Greta made these.”
After a few days in the hospital, Mario’s condition had improved a lot. He no longer appeared as pale and lifeless. While he ate, Tiffany casually asked, “Are you planning to leave the hospital on Friday?”
“Why?” Mario asked, glancing up at her.
Tiffany looked serious as she responded, “Well, since you won’t be out until Friday, why not stay home and rest for the weekend, and then go back to work on Monday?”
She forced herself to keep a serious expression. “If you work over the weekend, I’ll tell Mom.”
“Alright, I understand.” Mario sighed, a note of helplessness in his voice.
Once Mario finished his meal, Tiffany packed up the thermos and left the hospital. As soon as she entered the kitchen at home, she slammed the thermos onto the floor, followed by the clay pot used for the soup, shattering it into pieces.
Greta and Roxanne jumped in surprise but weren’t overly shocked. They had both known Tiffany long enough to understand that her sweet, angelic demeanor often hid a more volatile side. Breaking things wasn’t out of the ordinary for her.
Greta asked, once Tiffany had calmed down a bit, “Ms. Tiffany, what’s wrong? Did something upset you?”
Tiffany turned her head sharply, her eyes bloodshot as she glared at Greta. “I made that chicken soup, and he only took one sip!”
“Maybe Mr. Mario just didn’t feel like eating much today … ” Greta suggested, trying to be reassuring.
Tiffany’s face darkened,
When Lisa cooked, Mario always finished his meals. He had never done something like this–taking only one sip and leaving the rest untouched.
And that one sip? It was only because she had personally handed him the bowl.
Though Mario didn’t seem to notice, Tiffany couldn’t shake the feeling that it was a subtle message. You’re not as good as Lisa. “How’s Lisa doing lately?” Tiffany asked, forcing her voice to stay calm.
Roxanne spoke up, trying to lighten the mood. “Speaking of Ms. Lisa, there’s something a little odd going on.”
“Oh?” Tiffany raised an eyebrow, suspicious. “What’s that?”
“Ms. Lisa used to come into the kitchen every day, Roxanne said, looking thoughtful. “But she hasn’t been around much recently. There’s nothing to eat anywhere else in the house–does she not get hungry?”
“And, Greta added, “yesterday, Mr. Xavier sent over a box of chocolates for Ms. Lisa. I went to knock on her door, but she wasn’t there.”

Tiffany bit her lip. “Where are the chocolates?”
“They’re here,” Greta replied, pulling out a beautifully wrapped box of chocolates from the fridge. “Since it came from ME Xavier, I didn’t touch them”
Tiffany’s eyes fixed on the box, her fingers tightening into fists.
The chocolates were from an exclusive foreign brand, one that wasn’t available locally. Being freshly made, they had a short shelf life. To get them delivered in the country, they had to be airlifted that same day. Given the cost, this small box was worth a fortune.
Tiffany loved those chocolates. Xavier had always bought them for her, but now he was sending them to Lisa!
“It’s not like it’s anything special,” Tiffany forced a smile. “You can share them among yourselves.”
The next day, Tiffany went up to the rooftop early in the morning. She stared coldly at the dog hole in the garden. Lisa isn’t home, so she must have snuck out..
If Lisa wanted to leave, the dog hole was her only way out. Tiffany was determined to wait and catch her.
Around 3:00 pm, Tiffany saw Lisa in the garden.
Lisa looked around to make sure no one was watching, then crawled through the dog hole and slipped away.
Tiffany smiled, certain she would catch her.
Mario has grounded Lisa; what can she possibly be sneaking off to do? Tiffany was extremely curious.
She quickly went downstairs, got into an inconspicuous car, and followed Lisa from a distance. Tiffany watched as Lisa boarded a bus, then got off and headed to the subway station.
“Damn it.” Tiffany muttered under her breath. She had never ridden the subway before. But despite that, she still followed
Lisa.
Tiffany kept her distance, staying one car behind to avoid being spotted.
Nearly an hour later, Lisa finally got off the subway, and Tiffany followed her, still keeping her distance. Lisa then boarded
another bus.
