Chapter 11 The Winnings

Let’s go the man said, turning slightly as he idly twirled his watch with an unreadable expression

Dominic followed without hesitation

The man leading the way was Caleb Quade

The Quades had originally come from Cloudhaven, but 25 years ago, they moved to Pinecrest

Finished

About 12 years ago, Caleb’s father. Hank Quade, passed away unexpectedly. At only 18, Caleb stepped up to lead the family. With his exceptional business sense, he transformed the Quades into a dominant force, making them a key player in Pinecrest’s business world. He not only built his own empire but elevated the Quades to the top tier of wealth and influence in Wynsteria

Even the most powerful figures in Pinecrest addressed him with deference, calling him Mr. Caleb

Now in his late twenties, Caleb stood at the peak of success, firmly entrenched as one of the most powerful figures in town

Known for his solitary nature and unpredictable behavior, Caleb wasn’t interested in women and had a curious fondness for visiting churches

His grandmother. Myrtle Quade, had been so worried that Caleb might choose to completely renounce worldly affairs and become a priest, that she threatened to harm herself unless the family returned to Cloudhaven and honored Caleb’s marriage contract with the Moores

Since childhood. Caleb had been promised to Ruby, but over the years, the Moores and Quades had kept their distance

This time, the Quades had returned to Cloudhaven quietly, making sure no one else knew

The gambling downstairs went on without interruption

Jocelyn, my dear niece, what’s your choice this round?Richard had unintentionally started addressing her with a different title

My niece is something else! She certainly knows how to get things done

Let’s call it a night. Time to head back, Jocelyn said, her tone calmand collected. It was always important to know when to stop. They were in a casino, and if they kept winning, things could take a bad turn-

Richard, still riding the wave of his victories, didn’t want to leave just yet, but seeing Jocelyn already heading out, he quickly followed. Wait, Jocelyn, don’t go just yet!”

As they stepped outside the casino, a middleaged man with a rough look and a few thuggish companions blocked their path

Hey, pretty girl, my boss, Panther, wants to treat you to a latenight snack,he said with a smirk

Jocelyn lazily lifted her eyelids, preparing to take a step, when suddenly a figure rushed forward, kicking the man in front of them. The figure quickly positioned themselves in front of Jocelyn, standing tall and protective with hands on their hips. You dare mess with my niece? Are you looking for trouble?”

The man who had been kicked winced in pain, his teeth clenched just as he was about to retaliate, he saw who had intervened, and his expression changed Richard, didn’t you say you didn’t know her? If I had known she was your niece. I wouldn’t have dared approach her, no matter what!”

Not long ago, he claimed not to know her, but now suddenly, they are family

A man’s word, as unreliable as curr

Richard, standing with his hands on his hips, snapped, Enough of your nonsense! Apologize to her, now!”

Chapter 11 The Winnings

Panther and his gang stood there, bewildered, watching as the pair walked away

Jocelyn called Atm Uncle Richard…..

But somehow, it feels like Richard is following her, rather than the other way around

As they walked, Jocelyn glanced over at Richard. How much did we win tonight?”

It’s all hereRichard quickly pulled the money from his pockets, handing it all to her

Finished

As he gave her the cash. Richard paused, realizing just how naturally he had followed Jocelyn’s advice. It felt strange, almost

instinctive

Jocelyn swiftly counted the bills totaling 13.000 dollars, her hands a blur of motion. Before Richard even had time to react, she was done

Uncle Richard, here’s a little something for you. She handed him a portion of the money

Richard raised an eyebrow. What’s this? Aren’t all of these winnings mine

Jocelyn could see his confusion and responded coolly, Don’t forget, Uncle Richard, I’m the one who won it. If it weren’t for me, you’d be walking out of here with nothing.”

In other words, 5,000 is already more than enough

Richard grinned. You’re just a kid. What would you do with so much money? Leave it with me. I’ll take care of it for you”

Jocelyn replied flatly. My mom’s been sick. I need to buy her some medicine and treatment.”

At the mention of Shana’s illness, Richard fell silent

Over the years. Shana’s health had been declining. It was clear his niece was thoughtful and responsible..

Just then, a sudden burst of bright white light shot toward them from a distance

Richard instinctively raised his hand to shield his eyes

Jocelyn, however, didn’t even flinch. She kept walking forward, unaffected by the glaring light, her demeanor as composed as

tver

From the back seat of a car nearby, a tall, slender figure watched them in silence
