Chapter 20 Reported for Work
Ruby found it slightly unsettling that Jocelyn, that little troublemaker, had left the Moores.
In her past life, whenever she was bored, teasing Jocelyn had been a source of entertainment.
Now, it felt like something was missing.
Just as she was mulling this over, the system’s notification sound chimed in her mind.
Ruby quickly opened the control panel that only she could see.
The screen displayed a profile.
Dominic Lawson, Gender: Male
Age: 28
Finished
The eldest son of the Lawson family, one of Pinecrest’s top ten families, and their heir. His net worth exceeded hundreds of billions of dollars
A man of such influence could easily sway the entire city of Cloudhaven
“Do you have a photo of Dominic?” Ruby narrowed her eyes.
The control panel screen shifted, revealing a picture of a young man.
He had sharp features and an air of sophistication.
Ruby’s eyes glinted. “Check Dominic’s recent itinerary.”
The system’s display changed again, this time showing a detailed schedule.
Ruby reviewed it carefully before sitting at her vanity to start getting ready.
Though Dominic was prominent, he wasn’t her ultimate target. Her real goal was Lord Cen.
According to the data. Dominic and Lord Cen were close friends.
If she could get close to Dominic, she would have a better chance of approaching Lord Cen.
Unfortunately, the system couldn’t directly access information about Lord Cen, leaving Ruby with no choice but to work through Dominic
At the entrance of a mall, a group of sharply dressed men surrounded a young man, escorting him as they exited.
The man leading the group was undoubtedly Dominic.
As Dominic stepped through the doors, his attention was drawn to a girl squatting nearby, dressed in a pristine white dress. She had a gentle smile on her face as she spoke to a scruffy little boy in front of her. “Hey there, how old are you, little guy?”
The girl was stunning, her spotless white dress accentuating her delicate and radiant appearance.
In stark contrast, the boy she spoke to was disheveled, with a runny nose, yet the girl didn’t seem to mind at all. She carefully wiped his face with a tissue, her expression full of warmth.
“Thank you,” the boy said politely.
“You’re welcome, the girl replied. “I have some snacks here for you. Where are your parents?”
The boy shook his head. “I don’t know, I came out by myself.”

Noticing this, the man in charge whispered to his assistant, “Look into that girl.”
“Yes, sir,” the assistant replied respectfully.
Finished
Moments later, the girl in the white dress disappeared into the crowd with the boy in tow. Dominic withdrew his gaze and resumed walking.
“Mr. Dominic, this way, please. The man at his side opened the car door for him with deference.
Once inside, the assistant handed over a report. The man smirked and said. “Mr. Dominic, that girl we saw earlier is Ruby, the Moores‘ recently acknowledged daughter.”
Dominic froze.
So, it was her!
No wonder she seemed so familiar
His opinion of Ruby had plummeted after the engagement debacle, but now he realized the truth might not be as he had thought.
There had to be some misunderstanding.
After all, how could someone so kind–hearted toward a child in need be as shallow and greedy as the rumors suggested? Returning from the market, Jocelyn found Shana already cooking in the kitchen.
Jocelyn stepped in and took the spatula from Shana. “Mom, go rest in your room. I’ll take care of this.”
Td better do it! How would you know your way around the kitchen?” Shana chuckled. The Moores have chefs and maids- when have you ever even stepped into a kitchen?”
Jocelyn smiled. “I learned a little cooking at the Moores. Don’t underestimate me! Your health isn’t great, so you should avoid the smoke and grease.”
In truth, the original Jocelyn didn’t know how to cook at all.
Her skills were honed in her previous life, and she had become quite talented. Her dishes weren’t just delicious–they often had special effects as well.
“Then I’ll wash the vegetables for you, Shana said, picking up the fresh produce Jocelyn had bought.
Jocelyn deftly heated the oil in the pan. Before long, the kitchen was filled with an enticing aroma
Shana was taken aback. She hadn’t expected Jocelyn to be this capable..
At 5:30 in the evening, Jocelyn reported for work at the barbecue restaurant.
At the counter sat a boy in white, engrossed in writing. He was so focused that he didn’t even notice Jocelyn’s arrival.
“Hi, Jocelyn greeted him proactively.
