Chapter 23 Genius
They had only won once so far.
Richard glanced anxiously at Jocelyn. “Jocelyn, what’s going on with you today? You’re completely off your game!”
Jocelyn replied nonchalantly, “Only gamblers who win every time are called legends. I’m just a regular person!”
A regular person who won over a dozen times in a row last night!
Richard scratched his head
He suspected Jocelyn was bluffing, but he had no proof.
“How did you lose so badly! Weren’t you amazing last night?” Dominic’s gaze swept in their direction. His brow furrowed slightly, and a hint of disdain flickered in his eyes.
Ever since he’d seen Jocelyn at the Moores, he’d run into her at the casino two nights in a row. He could hardly believe it wasn’t deliberate
Next to Dominic stood another figure, exuding a faint yet intimidating chill that made people instinctively avoid eye contact. Hearing Dominic’s remark, the man’s hand, which was toying with his watch, paused briefly.
“She’s doing it on purpose” he said, lifting his gaze slightly. His hat obscured most of his face, leaving only a pale, well- defined jawline visible.
“On purpose?” Dominic looked puzzled.
“She’s lost six times, but the total money she’s lost doesn’t even amount to half of what she won in that single win.”
Dominic stared at Caleb in disbelief before the realization hit him “She’s trying to avoid drawing attention from the casino?” Caleb gave a faint nod.
Dominic rubbed his chin. I’m telling you, Jocelyn is playing us with her cat–and–mouse act! Caleb, don’t let her reel you inf
In truth, Jocelyn had no exceptional gambling skills–she was just following tips from someone else. If Dominic’s guess was right, that person was Richard.
Richard was deliberately pretending to be less skilled so Jocelyn could take the spotlight, ensuring all eyes were on her.
“You think I’m like you?” Caleb said coolly, still fiddling with his watch as he raised his eyes to glance at Dominic.
Dominic, notorious for his indulgent lifestyle, was a classic playboy.
He and Caleb were opposites.
“Caleb, not every woman is like Jocelyn. Don’t let
“Take Ms. Moore, for example. She’s genuinely kind. I’m sure there’s some kind of misunderstanding about her breaking off her make you swear off women altogether, Dominic said, thinking it over. the engagement….
Dominic had a lot of admiration for Ruby
Despite growing up in poverty, Ruby carried herself with grace. Even when faced with her stepsister, who had taken everything from her since childhood, Ruby chose forgiveness.
Not only that, she had a soft spot for homeless children and always lent a helping hand.
Ruby was pure, like an unblemished sheet of paper untouched by the world’s corruption. Compared to Ruby, Jocelyn was nowhere close.

In Dominic’s eyes. Ruby was gentle and refined.
Caleb, calm and unflappable, seemed like her perfect match.
“Spending time on women is a waste. It’s better to focus on meaningful work. Caleb said as he strode forward. “What’s the status of the CIS data design project? Has anyone taken on the task yet?”
Dominic’s face turned pale as he quickly followed Caleb. “Not yet.
Since they’d lost several rounds in a row, Jocelyn and Richard left the casino early that night.
Richard sighed heavily, “Why was tonight’s luck so awful?”
“Count this,” Jocelyn said, handing him the money she’d won.
Richard counted it, his expression gradually shifting to astonishment. “Six thousand dollars? This is all from tonight?”
Jocelyn nodded slightly, her face glowing under the moonlight.
“But didn’t you lose more than ten rounds? How did you still win this much?” Richard asked, puzzled.
Jocelyn smiled. “Because I bet big when I won and kept it small when I lost.”
Winning every single time would have drawn attention, so Jocelyn had been careful to play it smart.
Richard quickly grasped the strategy and gave her a big thumbs–up.
Jocelyn was a genius.
Her brilliance made Richard feel proud by association.
The next morning, Jocelyn woke up early and went to the market to buy some fresh ingredients for cooking.
She was making soup for Shana–something not only nourishing but also great for maintaining her complexion.
After all, jocelyn had expertise in holistic medicine and was well–versed in health and wellness.
When Shana woke up and saw Jocelyn busy in the kitchen, she felt both moved and a little bittersweet.
