Chapter 29 Unmasking Radiance
Jocelyn jogged over and asked, “Hello. Ma’am. Do you need help with anything?”
Finished
The elderly lady pushed an empty bowl forward and offered a gentle smile. “Young lady. I’ve finished eating, but now I’m feeling a bit thirsty. Could you pour me a glass of water?”
“Of course,” Jocelyn replied warmly. She poured a glass of water for that woman.
A small burp escaped her lips, and she looked up sheepishly. T… I still want to drink cola. Would that be okay?”
The old lady had expected such a request to annoy the girl, but to her surprise. Jocelyn’s smile remained unchanged. “Sure thing!
She quickly went out to buy a glass of cola and handed it over with a cheerful warning. The cola’s a bit cold, so take your ume drinking it.”
The elderly lady nodded and sipped the drink slowly. When she finished, she asked. “Young lady, what’s your name?”
“I’m Jocelyn Leif. You can just call me Jocelyn,” she replied.
“Jocelyn sounds so formal! How about I call you Josie instead? And you can call me Grandma Myrtle!”
Jocelyn smiled as she replied, “Sure thing. Grandma Myrtle!”
“Good girl! Such a good girl!” Grandma Myrtle beamed, her happiness almost infectious. Glancing at the sky, she sighed. softly. “It’s getting late. Josie. I should head home now. Let’s meet again tomorrow, okay?”
“See you tomorrow!” Jocelyn waved goodbye as she watched Grandma Myrtle shuffle away.
Afterward, Jocelyn headed to the back kitchen to lend a hand.
She had barely turned the corner when Ruby, Marie, and Lisa entered the restaurant,
Spotting the trio’s high–end attire, the owner, Helga, hurried over to greet them with a polite smile. “Welcome! Please, come in and have a seat.”
This was her first time entering a place like this since she returned to the wealthy family. Her finely arched brows furrowed as she surveyed the humble surroundings with barely concealed disdain. In her eyes, only low–class people would choose to dine at such a disgusting food stall.
Reluctantly, she picked an empty table and sat down, her expression still sour. “Do you have an employee here named Jocelyn‘ she asked..
“Yes.” Helga nodded promptly.
Marie leaned forward slightly and added, “Let Jacelyn come to serve us”
I’m sorry, Jocelyn is busy with something else right now, Helga replied apologetically.
Ruby leisurely pulled a thick stack of cash from her wallet and placed it on the counter. “This is for the service fee.”
Helga’s eyes sparkled at the sight of the money. She quickly pocketed the cash, her attitude shifting instantly. “Of course! Please wait a moment. I’ll call Jocelyn over for you right away?
Helga trotted into the back kitchen, her face lit with a smile. Jocelyn! Put everything on hold for now and head inside. Someone’s asking for you!”
“What?” Jocelyn paused mid–task. She looked confused.
Helga elaborated, “A table of distinguished guests just arrived, and they specifically requested you to serve them! Are they

Jocelyn frowned slightly but said nothing. She wiped her hands and followed Helga into the dining area.
Finished
“There, over at that table,” Helga said, nodding toward the corner where three impeccably dressed young women sal “Remember to serve them well.”
As Jocelyn approached, her expression remained calm, even when she got a clear view of who the guests were. Holding the menu, she walked up to the table and spoke evenly. “May I take your order?”
Do your job, stay in your role, and fulfill your duty. That was Jocelyn’s philosophy.
If they were here to stir up trouble, she’d adapt quickly. She’d never backed down from anyone in her life.
At the sound of Jocelyn’s familiar voice, Ruby’s lips curled into a mocking smirk. She glanced up, ready to deliver a scathing remark but then she froze.
However, she froze, and the derisive smile stiffened awkwardly at the corners of her mouth.
Is she Jocelyn? This ugly duckling, how did she change like this?
Ruby widened her eyes in disbelief. The Jocelyn she knew, the plain, insignificant eyesore, was unrecognizable. She had expected to see a pitiful figure, someone whose very presence would serve as a source of ridicule.
Instead, Jocelyn was nothing like she had imagined. She wasn’t pitiful or shabby. She was radiant. Glowing, even.
How could this happen? This wretched girl! Howe dare she look this good! Had she undergone plastic surgery? How could she look better than met
Ruby’s jealousy twisted her features, and she didn’t even bother to conceal it. Ruby had always believed no one should outshine her, and yet here was Jocelyn, doing just that
Lisa and Marie, seated beside her, were equally stunned.
Didn’t she just take our money yesterday and say that she needed to buy makeup or something? But she’s not wearing any makeup.
Lisa snapped out of her daze and turned to Jocelyn with a scowl. Jocelyn, why didn’t you put on makeup today? Don’t you know how scary you look without it?”
jocelyn raised an eyebrow, her calm demeanor intact. “Makeup? What are you talking about? And… do I even know you two?” Her innocent expression made both Lisa and Marie falter.
Isn’t she the same Jocelyn they’d seen yesterday? What had happened to her?
Lisa’s frustration boiled over, and she stood abruptly, pointing a finger at Jocelyn. “Stop pretending! You took our money. yesterday! Don’t deny it!”
Jocelyn’s lips curved into a faint, composed smile. “If the three of you aren’t ordering, I have other things to do.”
Marie inhaled deeply, forcing herself to stay composed. “We’ll take everything on the menu. Bring it all out!” she said.
