Reversed Destinies of the Fake Heiress Ch 1

Chapter 1 This Is Your Sister
Jocelyn Leif, a tech genius, slowly opened her eyes, only to find herself surrounded by complete darkness.
The pungent scent of alcohol filled the air, heavy and sharp against her senses.
Though she couldn’t see anything, her sharp mind, despite the confusion, told her something was wrong. This place felt unfamiliar—different from anything she had known before.
Where am I? Am I still alive?
Her hands moved instinctively, searching through the darkness until they found the light switch. She flicked it on.
The room was suddenly illuminated by bright, harsh light.
Taking a deep breath, Jocelyn scanned her surroundings.
The thick, closed curtains, the empty liquor bottles strewn around the floor, and the cigarette butts littering every corner painted a picture of chaos and turmoil. Clearly, whoever lived here had been struggling emotionally, perhaps even mentally.
A flood of strange memories surged through her mind, overwhelming her at first. Slowly, she began to piece them together.
It didn’t take long for her to realize the truth: she had been reborn into the body of another girl.
The original owner of the body was Jocelyn Moore. Let’s call her the original Jocelyn. She had been a wealthy heiress. The kind of person everyone envied. Or at least, everyone used to envy.
She had been the epitome of privilege, yet she had squandered it all. She lacked any real skills, barely managed her studies, and even struggled to recognize basic words despite being in high school.
Her ignorance had made her a joke among the city’s elite families, with their gossip echoing around her like never-ending mockery.
Just three days ago, everything had changed. A shocking revelation about her true parentage had shattered her world. It turned out she wasn’t the biological daughter of the Moores—she had been mistakenly switched at birth.
The discovery was a blow to her, one that turned everything upside down.
The Moores, who had never cared much for her, now regarded her with open disdain.
Their true daughter was someone named Ruby Leif.
Ruby was everything the original Jocelyn was not: graceful, talented, a student admired by all. There was no point in comparing the two, as they were on totally different levels.
Studying in the same school as the original Jocelyn, Ruby had won countless awards, a star among both her peers and the public, also known as the campus belle.
She was the moon in the sky while the original Jocelyn wasn’t even worthy of being compared to the dirt on the ground.
Today was the day Ruby would officially return to the Moore family. The Moores had thrown a grand event to celebrate it, with a guest list filled with high-ranking families and important people.
After absorbing so many new memories, Jocelyn narrowed her eyes.
So Ruby Leif would become Ruby Moore, and she, the fake daughter, would take on the name Jocelyn Leif.
Their roles were finally being set in stone, as their lives collided and shifted in a way they never had before.
Gathering her thoughts, Jocelyn moved toward the closet. She needed to wash away the heavy stench of alcohol that clung to her body. The heat was unbearable, and she needed to clear her head.
But when she opened the closet, her eyes widened in shock. The clothes inside were all bold and tacky—revealing outfits with low necklines, shorts that barely covered anything, fishnet stockings, and leather studs.
The entire wardrobe screamed of crassness.
She turned her gaze to the photo on the nightstand. It was even more garish than the clothes, and Jocelyn couldn’t help but wonder, WTF! She looks like a ghost…
After a quick search through the rest of the closet, Jocelyn gave up. There wasn’t a single normal outfit to be found. She sighed, put on a sun jacket, and headed downstairs with the heavy makeup.
“Mom, Dad,” Jocelyn called as she entered the room.
The guests turned to look at her, their faces twisted with disgust.
Today is Ruby’s day, the moment she steps into the spotlight. What is Jocelyn—the outsider—doing here?
The audacity. Who does she think she is, calling these people “Mom” and “Dad”?
A chorus of whispers followed her every move.
“Why hasn’t she disappeared yet? If I were her, I would’ve jumped off a building by now. What’s the point of sticking around after all this?”
“Look at her—she’s so ugly, and she’s making a fool of herself!”
“I heard her biological mom, Shana Leif, is dirt poor. She doesn’t even have a house! It’s no wonder she’s so used to living a good life here. She probably doesn’t want to leave.”
“Did you guys know Shana was a mistress? Probably doesn’t even know who her father is … ”
“So, she’s just some illegitimate child, huh?”
The murmurs were cold and cutting, each word sharper than the last. Most people would have crumbled under such relentless scorn, but Jocelyn stood tall, unmoving, unaffected by their venomous remarks.
Rebecca Moore forced a smile as she looked at Jocelyn. “Come here, let me introduce you. This is your elder sister, Ruby. You two should get along well from now on.”
Rebecca’s smile never reached her eyes. Beneath the polite exterior was a deep well of contempt for Jocelyn, a contempt that had only grown since the truth had come to light.
This girl isn’t even a true Moore, yet she still dares to cling to our family.
It’s shameful, utterly shameless.
Rebecca’s thoughts grew darker. If Jocelyn doesn’t leave on her own, there are ways to make her disappear. No one would ever need to know.
Jocelyn turned toward Ruby and greeted her with a simple “Hi.”
Ruby, her face stiff, didn’t even acknowledge Jocelyn’s presence. Instead, she turned to Rebecca, her eyes red from suppressed tears, and asked, “Mom, didn’t I only have two brothers? If she’s your daughter, then who am I?”
Ruby had always had a strange intuition that something felt off.
