Reversed Destinies of the Fake Heiress Ch 3

Chapter 3 Dream Girl
“I like it better when you keep your mouth shut sometimes,” came the cool voice—a deep tone carrying an air of authority that could captivate anyone who heard it.
It was the type of voice that seemed to demand attention, as if it could stop time with its power.
Dominic stiffened but quickly gathered the courage to speak. “Caleb, you’re engaged to the true heir of the Moores family. Even though the Quades have been absent from Cloudhaven for years, the Moores and the Quades have always had close ties. If your mom and grandma insist you marry the Moores’ heiress, how will you respond?
“Caleb, do you already have a dream girl?” Dominic pushed on, not letting the conversation end there.
“Dream girl?” Caleb raised an eyebrow, clearly confused.
Dominic clarified, “Someone you’re deeply in love with, the one you’d want to marry above all else.”
Caleb shook his head with determination. “Not now. And never in the future.”
Dominic didn’t doubt his sincerity.
Having known Caleb for over ten years, he had never once seen him form a close bond with any woman.
Caleb was a solitary figure, dividing his time between the office and a nearby church, where he would meditate and pray. Dominic wouldn’t have been surprised if Caleb decided to become a priest one day.
Meanwhile, Ruby continued her act, playing the role of the helpless victim, ensuring everyone’s sympathy was on her side.
In the battle between the real and fake heiresses, Ruby was already one step ahead. After all, Jocelyn had taken her place.
Jocelyn, fully aware of her position, faced Ruby and said, “Ms. Moore, I sincerely apologize for having taken the Moores’ heiress title for 18 years. I’ll leave right away, returning everything that belongs to you. Don’t worry—I am Jocelyn Leif, not Jocelyn Moore anymore.”
This is never my home, nor is it the home of the original Jocelyn. I have no reason to stay.
Ruby paused for a moment, caught off guard by Jocelyn’s willingness to leave. This was unexpected—different from her past life.
In her previous life, Jocelyn had stubbornly clung to the Moores family, refusing to leave, even after being shunned by everyone. Eventually, the Moores had taken harsh measures to get rid of her.
Ruby had already planned how she would humiliate Jocelyn for her shamelessness, but now, Jocelyn was choosing to walk away. Is this just a ploy for sympathy? A calculated move?
Ruby narrowed her eyes, her disdain evident.
What could someone like Jocelyn—who doesn’t even know how to read—possibly think she can outsmart me? It was laughable!
I’m a hawk soaring above it all, while Jocelyn is nothing more than a sparrow, not worth my time.
A mocking smile played on Ruby’s lips. “That’s all? Jocelyn, you’ve stolen my life for 18 years and lived in luxury. Now, you think a simple apology can make me forget all that?”Jocelyn remained composed. “Let me correct you: it wasn’t me, you, or our parents who caused this mess. If there’s anyone to blame, it’s the hospital. If they hadn’t made that mistake, none of this would have happened. Ms. Moore, we were both babies. No one wronged anyone. There’s nothing to forgive.”
While the original Jocelyn’s reputation hadn’t been flawless, she hadn’t directly wronged Ruby either. Still, Ruby’s anger was understandable—after all, who could feel good knowing their life had been stolen?
But Ruby shouldn’t push further when Jocelyn was willing to step aside.
The original Jocelyn had been just a baby, with no say in the matter.
Ruby sneered, her eyes full of scorn. “You really think a hospital, of all places, would make such a mistake?”
She struck the perfect tone—not too light, not too heavy. Everyone around signed and agreed with her.
That’s right. How could a hospital, of all places, make such an error? Perhaps there was more to the story—something like a deliberate switch.
Jocelyn’s biological mother has a reputation for dishonesty, so what more could she be capable of?
Anyone else might have been shaken by Ruby’s words, but not Jocelyn. She had once stood at the top of the world.
Jocelyn lowered her gaze and stared at Ruby, her voice soft as she spoke, “Since you’re so sure, I’m sure you must have evidence to prove it was intentional. The laws in Wynsteria are fair, and the legal system is vast—no one escapes it. I’m here, ready to face you in court whenever you choose to present your proof.”
Ruby’s eyes narrowed slightly, unease creeping in. Jocelyn’s face was still the same, yet her presence now felt different—almost threatening.
