Chapter 5N
The competition went on like nothing had happened. Sophie, finally free of me, cheered for Yulian with everything she had, her hoarse voice cracking as she screamed his name.
In the end, Yulian stood on the podium, holding the trophy like he had won it fair and square. Wilma, grinning ear to ear, threw herself
into Harris’s arms.!!
Sophie clapped her hands together, beaming. “Dad! Wilma is single anyway. You guys should just get together! Yulian and I are already best friends, we can be a real family now!“]
She didn’t notice the flicker of disgust in Wilma’s eyes. Wilma had tolerated Sophie for one reason, bow that Yulian had won, that patience was running out.
And then, just as Yulian stepped up for his victory speech, a voice echoed through the venue speakers.
“Harris, is this really okay? What if someone finds out?”
The entire arena fell silent.
Then, clear as day, Harris’s voice came through the speakers. “What are you so worried about? As long as Yulian wins, it’s worth it.”
A murmur rippled through the crowd. “Sophie’s too talented,” the voice continued. “The only way for Yulian to shine is if she can’t sing anymore.“}]
Gasps filled the air. “But she’s your daughter-”
“And? She’s just a burden. I only care about sons.“}]
More whispers. People turning, whispering, staring.
“If her mother hadn’t given me a daughter, I wouldn’t have treated them this way.” The truth had finally come out.
Every word out of Harris’s mouth hit like a bomb, shaking the entire arena. For a second, everything just… stopped.
The cheers. The clapping. Even the breathing in the room seemed to pause. And then–chaos. Gasps, whispers, people turning to each other in shock.
“Did he just admit to poisoning his own kid?”
“No way, he really did all this just so his mistress’s son could win?“}
“So Yulian’s mom is the other woman? Oh, this is insane.”
The energy in the room shifted in an instant. People who had been celebrating just moments ago were now glaring at Harris like he was the lowest scum on earth.
Sweat beaded on his forehead. That smug confidence? Gone. Wilma clutched at his arm, her face drained of color. She looked like she wanted to disappear.
“This is all lies!” Harris finally shouted, his voice cracking. “Someone is trying to frame me! Don’t believe this nonsense!”
But the more he yelled, the less convincing he sounded. Sophie stood frozen, her face pale. For years, she had clung to the belief that her father was the only one who truly cared about her.N
Now, the truth was staring her right in the face. And it was ugly.
