Chapter 8M
One minute, I was the victim. The next, I was the most hated person on the internet. Insults poured in nonstop. Strangers called me every name in the book, telling me to die. Someone even photoshopped my pictures into memorial posts and spread them around.
Then, things escalated. My address got leaked. It didn’t take long before an angry crowd showed up outside.“]
“She’s in there! She has to be! Come out, you coward!“}
“You destroyed Yulian’s dream! Do you even deserve to live?“W
“People like you should be torn apart! He worked so hard for that championship, and you ruined it!”
“She even used her own daughter as a pawn! What kind of monster does that? Get out here!” Then–BANG! The door flew open. Before I could react, hands grabbed me and dragged me outside.
Someone spit on me. Then another. And another. The warm, disgusting saliva dripped down my face, mixing with my tears.
I tried to fight, but there was nowhere to run. No way out. Then, through the chaos, I saw Wilma and Harris.}}
For a brief second, I actually felt relieved. If they were here, maybe–just maybe–they would put an end to this.”
But the second Wilma’s eyes locked onto mine, I knew. She wasn’t here to stop it. She was here to finish it.”
“You bitch!” she shrieked, pushing through the crowd. Before I could react, she lunged at me, grabbing a fistful of my hair and yanking it back so hard it felt like my scalp was being ripped off.
A scream tore from my throat.
I clawed at her hands, my nails digging into her skin, but she didn’t let go. She was wild, furious, completely out of control.
“You think you can destroy us?” she spat. “You think you’re so powerful? Let’s see how powerful you are now!”
Then, her foot slammed into my stomach, full force. The impact knocked the wind out of me. I crashed onto the ground, pain exploding through every inch of my body. My insides felt like they’d been crushed under a truck.
My vision blurred. Everything spun. However, before I could even take a breath, she was on me again.”
Wilma straddled me, her fingers clawing at my clothes, yanking and tearing like she wanted to rip me apart.
“You shameless bitch!” she screamed, her face twisted with rage. “You think you can keep ruining lives? Let’s see how arrogant you are now!”
Blood trickled down my face, warm and sticky, dripping onto the pavement. My body felt like it was shutting down, every nerve screaming in pain. But it wasn’t over yet.
Through my blurry vision, I saw Harris.
He strolled over, arms crossed over his chest, completely unbothered. His expression was ice–cold, like he was watching something mildly inconvenient.>
“Karlie, you did this to yourself,” he said, tilting his head. “All this… and for what? You even killed your own daughter.”
His foot came down hard on my back.
A sharp crack echoed through my body, and I gasped in agony. Blood rushed up my throat, spilling from my lips. I could barely breathe. Harris just stood there, a twisted little smirk curling at the edges of his mouth.
I let out a weak, wheezing laugh. If I was going down, I would make sure they’d burn with me. “You’ll get karma…” My voice was barely a whisper, but my hatred cut through the night.
“Karma?” Wilma scoffed. “The only one who deserves that is you!”
She grabbed a fistful of my hair and yanked my head back before slapping me so hard my ears rang. Another slap. Then another.
I barely felt them anymore. Everything was fading. Then–sirens. The wail of police cars tore through the chaos.
Wilma froze, her grip on me loosening. Harris turned slightly, but neither of them looked scared. If anything, they looked… satisfied./
Red and blue lights flashed against their faces as the police swarmed in. “Step away from her! Now!“}]
A cop knelt beside me, his gaze darkening at the sig
