Chapter 37 Finding Someone to Replace Her
Seeing that he refused to let her exit the car, she decided to forget it and let him bring her wherever he wanted..
Hugo’s sports car arrived at her residential area, but just as she was about to get out, a realization hit her before she shot him a glare. “How did you know I live here?”
Softly grunting, he remarked, “I can find out anything I want.”
“I’m warning you. Stop trying to investigate my life.” Celia gnashed her teeth and slammed the door shut. Then, she towed her exhausted body back to her home while he watched until she entered the building before leaving.
In the meantime, the cops had begun investigating this matter because Hugo had filed a report on Celia’s behalf.
When she came out of the bathroom, she heard her phone ringing, so she picked up the call.
“Hello.”
“Hello, is this Miss Celia Stuart? This is a call from the city’s First Precinct. We’ve received a report about a kidnapping that happened to you today. Are you free to come down and make a statement?”
Taken aback, she realized Hugo must have filed a report for her. “Sure. I’ll come over now,” she replied.
No matter what, she had to get to the bottom of this and find the culprit, or she would become even more vulnerable. Even though she knew Pansy was the mastermind behind this kidnapping, there had to be proof before the cops could convict her.
It was already 4.30PM when Celia left her residential area again to get in a cab and head for the precinct. When she hurried into the lobby, she immediately spotted two people standing there- Hugo and his assistant.
He had changed and wore a black shirt with black pants. Even standing in the lively precinct lobby, he still exuded a cold, unapproachable aura.
“Miss Stuart, you came,” Mathias greeted her.
Celia politely returned the greeting with a nod because Mathias had taken good care of her five
years ago..
At that moment, a female clerk invited Celia inside for her statement. Then, she was shown into an office, where she honestly described the whole kidnapping process with help from detailed questions from two police officers. Her explanation was so intricate that it was nearly flawless.
“Miss Stuart, do you mind disclosing your relationship with Mr. Spencer?” one of the officers
asked.

The officer nodded. “Alright, you may leave now, Miss Stuart. We will contact you again if we need anything else.”
“Sure.” Celia nodded and got up to leave, but coincidentally, another figure came out from another office simultaneously.
Hugo looked at her while she ignored him and left emotionlessly. They arrived at the parking lot together. When she was about to leave, a black Bugatti stopped before her and blocked her way.”
“How about I send you home?” asked the man coldly as his window rolled down.
Shooting him a disdainful look, she declined his offer. “No, thank you.”
“I risked my life to save you, yet I don’t get a word of thanks?” He smiled mockingly.
“You’re right. I should thank you.” She suddenly started rummaging through her bag.
Hugo narrowed his eyes, wondering what she was looking for. Then, he saw her pull out a stack of cash and throw it at his face before he could register what was happening. “Here, your reward.”
That was his first time given such a treatment; to be fair, it hurt, but it was more humiliating than anything else. How could that woman throw cash at him? In terms of buying others with money, he was better at it than everyone else!
On the other hand, Celia left for the precinct’s entrance after throwing cash at him.
He sat in his sports car with an expression as dark as coal. Damn it! I shouldn’t have saved her.
She managed to hail a cab home, and during the ride, she thought about what she had done and felt relieved. After returning to her apartment and recalling today’s events, she thought she had to tell her father, so she called him.
“Hey, Celia.” Callum’s voice came from the phone.
“Dad, I got kidnapped today and almost died at sea.” She got straight to the point.
“What? Someone kidnapped you? Are you alright? Are you hurt?” He was instantly concerned.
“I’m fine, still alive anyway, but I’m guessing someone wants me dead,” she spoke with a sneer.
“Who is it?” he questioned in shock..
“I’ve only offended one person recently, Pansy. She wants the equity agreement in my hands, so I failed to report.”
“Celia, there must be a misunderstanding. Pansy wouldn’t do such a thing,” he explained on behalf of his wife.
She sneered and retorted, “Dad, have you truly gotten to know Pansy? She knows very well whether she had me kidnapped.”

“You should ask her yourself! By the way, I will find a lawyer for the lawsuit very soon.” Celia hung up after that. She wanted her father to help her relay the message as she dreaded for Pansy to feel frightened and uneasy.
However, it had been an exceptionally tiring day for her. She sat at her desk, turning on the screen to open her Skype, where she saw Jeremy’s father online. A sudden urge to rant overcame her, and she clicked on the chat box to send a message. Are you busy?‘
Meanwhile, Hugo had just arrived home. He had ordered the bodyguards to pick up Jeremy and was about to start working when he heard the notification. When he clicked on Skype, he saw it was from Elise.
“No. I’m not,’ he replied.
Have you ever hated someone to the core?‘ She sent a question.
He took a sip of water and answered, ‘Yes.”
‘I met the person I hated the most today. I wanted to kill him. He’s evil and despicable.”
With narrowed eyes, Hugo tapped on his keyboard. ‘Is there anything I can help you with? I can help you get back at him to repay you.”
Reading the message, Celia could not help but smile. “Thank you. You’ve done a lot just by saying that. I just wanted someone to talk to.”
She dared not trouble him because she was talking about Hugo. The man had power and wealth, and she did not want Jeremy’s father to get into trouble.
“Think of happy things. If you hate someone, just stay away from them.”
“Yes! You’re right. She felt warm inside. ‘Has Jeremy returned from school?”
“He’s on the way home. My assistant went to pick him up.”
Then, she suddenly found the situation funny. Why was she ranting so much about her matters. to a child’s father? Also, he was not angry at her and even took the time to comfort her. It had to be tough for him.
‘We’ll talk next time.
‘Okay. You can look for me if you need anything. I’m glad to help in any way I can.”
“Sure. Thank you, Celia politely replied before getting up to make herself a cup of coffee.
While holding her drinks, she stood on the balcony, looking into the distance while her mind. recalled today’s events, especially when thrown into the sea tied up. At that moment, she was. devastated and terrified. It felt like she was falling into the hands of death.
At that exact moment, however, Hugo jumped into the water. She could still remember him
