Chapter 38 Send Someone to Protect Her
Inside the study of a luxurious villa, a man disregarded the pile of work he was yet to finish as he skillfully spun his pen with his slender fingers. His gaze, however, was focused on one spot as though he was thinking about something complicated.
Hugo, too, was recalling today’s incident. His mind was filled with Celia’s figure, how she fought with him for air and weakly leaned against his chest, and her seductive face. All that was affecting his emotions.
It had been four years, yet she still impacted him as though his body had decided it would only react to her. Having been furious and frustrated, he wanted more than anything to break that curse because Celia had no right to affect him so much. He had to forget about her entirely and throw her to the back of his mind so she could no longer stir his emotions.
He bit his thin lips as his gaze landed on the computer’s chat box. While looking at the name Elise Wagner, he suddenly had a thought. The words Ernie told him today replayed in his mind. That’s right! Once I find a woman Jeremy likes, I might fall in love with another woman and forget about Celia.
When it came to women Jeremy adored, Elise was the perfect candidate. Though he did not. know how she looked, her clear, attractive voice and the thin figure he saw at the museum seemed to fit his requirements.
After releasing a breath, Hugo remembered how Celia had thrown him a stack of cash today and felt even more infuriated. It was nothing if she did not feel grateful to him, but how dare she humiliate him in such a way?
The inexplicable anger pushed him to make a decision. He had to try to interact with other women no matter what! He refused to believe no better–looking woman than Celia existed in this world. Then, his gaze landed on his computer, and he decided to start with her.
He released a breath as his slender fingers began typing a sentence and sending it without
hesitation.
Meanwhile, Celia had just left the balcony when she heard the notification tone coming from her laptop on the couch. She sat down and placed it on her legs before clicking on Skype, where she saw the message. ‘Miss Wagner, can we talk?”
It was from Jeremy’s father, Sean Spencer.
‘Sure, we can!‘ she replied.
While staring at the screen with calm eyes, Hugo continued to send another message. ‘My son likes you a lot, and I’m quite intrigued by you.”
That surprised Celia as she wondered if he was confessing to her. But we’re just online friends who have never met in real life! “Mr. Spencer, don’t you think it’s better for us to remain friends?” She added a smiling emoji at the end.

that he felt at a loss when he was rejected by a woman online. However, that proved that Elise was different from others. At the very least, she was not the kind who would play with a man’s heart. That brought up her image in his mind.
‘Miss Wagner, my apologies. I’m not in a good mood today and might have offended you.
When Celia saw that apology, she replied, ‘It’s fine. Everyone has ups and downs, and I’ve also disrupted your time before!
I find chatting with you enjoyable.”
I’m happy to chat with you too.
‘Can we keep in touch in the future?”
‘Sure!‘
“Okay. It’s a deal. We’re free to disturb each other in the future. You can tell me what’s on your mind, and I hope we can chat when I feel down.
She smiled as she typed her reply. ‘Deal
‘I need to be with my son now. Goodbye.”
“Talk soon.”
Celia released a slight breath. What’s going on? Why am I chatting so happily with a single father?
Such a feeling was both mysterious and relaxing.
At the Stuart Residence.
Callum rushed home from the company. When he saw his wife on the couch, he immediately accused her, “Pansy, did you send someone to kidnap Celia?”
Pansy put on an aggrieved expression while looking at him. “What are you talking about? You said I kidnapped Celia? Why would I do such a thing?”
“Celia was kidnapped today and almost lost her life. She suspects you’re behind it and filed a police report.” He sighed as he sat on the couch. Of course, he believed in his wife.
“Callumn, are you suspecting me because of what Celia said?” Her eyes turned red. “We’ve been married for twenty years. Is this how you think of me? Am I such a vicious person to you?”
“All right, calm down. I don’t suspect you of anything,” he coaxed his wife.
In the meantime, Pansy wiped her tears while studying her husband’s expression, secretly delighted. So what if Celia suspected I was behind the kidnapping?
She had spent a million and five hundred thousand on this matter and wiped all her tracks. No

“I’m not sure how I offended Celia to make her frame me in such a way. You have to get justice for me.” Pansy began crying even more hysterically.
Guilty that his tone might have been heavy earlier, Callum sat beside her and pulled her into his arms. “Okay. It’s my fault, and Celia must’ve misunderstood you.”
A sneer flashed across her face. Oh, Celia. You can hide now, but you can’t hide forever. Just wait and see. I’ll make you disappear if you don’t give me the equity agreement.
At the luxurious villa on the hillside, Hugo had done coaxing his son to sleep and sat on the living room couch. He had a glass of red wine in his hand, thinking about everything he experienced today.
Whom had Celia offended? Those kidnappers were clearly after her life, and she was lucky that he just happened to pass by. If that happened again, her life would end!
Finishing his wine in one gulp, Hugo had a frustrating question in mind. Was he going to protect. that woman? Should he let her face such dangers alone again, or should he send bodyguards to protect her?
Then, he found it ironic that he was protecting a mistress‘ daughter. But… If he did not, the same. situation might happen to her again.
In the end, he picked up the phone on the table and gave his order. “Send two bodyguards to Celia’s door for security.”
“Yes, Mr. Spencer. The one receiving the orders was Mathias.
As Celia was exhausted, she fell asleep once she got to bed. Amidst her sleep, she had a dream about sinking into the depths of the ocean. She saw herself being rescued, but the man that saved her plunged deeper into the sea. Then, she heard herself screaming, “Hugo!”
As a result, she shot up from bed, drenched in sweat and gasping, as she realized it was just a dream. She covered her face, frustrated at herself for worrying about his survival in her dream.
No. If I have the chance to watch him die, I must open my eyes and see it for myself, she viciously thought.
