So I Had a Baby with the Mistress—Divorce? Seriously? Ch 9
Chapter 9

After Ethan and Sophia were embarrassingly escorted out of the company by the security Michael summoned, they remained quiet for months.

I was surprised they managed to stay out of trouble for so long. I had prepared myself for a drawn-out battle.

It turns out Ethan’s company was facing issues, and he was under immense pressure.

Yet, things were not looking good, as there was a time when Sophia flooded me with insulting messages.

She accused me of saying something to Ethan that led him to reclaim the studio he had given me.

I didn’t respond. Instead, I took a screenshot and shared it on my WeChat Moments.

“So the independent studio that Su, the ‘Great Artist,’ has been boasting about was actually bought by my husband? Instead of venting your anger at me, maybe you should focus on getting Ethan to sign the divorce papers more quickly.”

Sophia and I shared many mutual friends, initially introduced by her to double the annoyance.

Now that I posted on WeChat Moments, it was a perfect opportunity for those who praised her to see the truth.

It was finally her turn to feel frustrated and angry.

After posting, I put my phone away and left work.

Today is my birthday, and Michael has booked a restaurant to celebrate with me.

As soon as I stepped out of the building, I saw Ethan, whom I hadn’t seen in months.

He looked thinner, with dark circles under his eyes, as if he hadn’t had a good night’s sleep in ages.

Even though I coldly pretended not to see him, he still managed a smile.

“Sunny, it’s your birthday today. I bought you a gift. Would you like to have dinner with me?”

I raised an eyebrow, amused, as I saw Sophia and my mother-in-law angrily getting out of a taxi nearby.

“It seems they’re not too keen on you having dinner with me.”

Ethan’s face fell, his brow furrowed in frustration, more exhausted than angry.

“Sophia, can’t you give it a rest for just one day? And why bring my mom into this?”

Sophia’s belly was quite large now. By my estimate, she was about eight months pregnant.

Now she was silent, hiding behind my mother-in-law, shedding silent tears.

My mother-in-law stormed up and slapped Ethan hard, trying to get past him to hit me, but he stopped her.

“If it weren’t for Yu Rou telling me, I wouldn’t even know my grandson is almost born!”

“What kind of spell did this barren hen cast on you? You’re so protective of her!”

Her voice boomed as she shouted she’d been fed up with me for a while and couldn’t wait for her son to kick me out.

I smirked at her drama, feeling nothing but relief.

In the past, whenever my mother-in-law mocked or belittled me, Ethan would side with her. I would endure and retreat in silence.

Now, I don’t even want Ethan. Why would I care about this unpleasant old woman?

“Mom! This is between me and Sunny. You don’t understand anything, so please don’t interfere.”

My mother-in-law, enraged, threatened to end her life.

“If I can’t even hold my grandson, the old Zhou family will have no descendants. What’s the point of living?”

The business district was bustling during rush hour, and plenty of people were getting this drama for free.

Ethan’s face was flushed with embarrassment as he tried to push his mom into the car.

But she refused to give up, kicking and flailing her arms.

Sophia hurriedly tried to calm things down. I took the opportunity to step back several paces.

The next moment, Sophia cried out in pain and fell right where I had been standing.

Thankfully, I had moved away. Otherwise, with the chaos of everyone pulling and shoving, who knows if I would’ve been blamed for her fall.

Without my body to cushion her, Sophia fell hard.

Her face twisted in pain, cold sweat pouring down as she clutched her stomach.

Seeing blood slowly seep from between her legs, Ethan and his mother stopped arguing and rushed her into the car to go to the hospital.
