Archie had foundation on his face.
Summer was speechless.
The old man was faking it
Even Archie hadn’t expected that his very first encounter with Summer would result in his act being exposed.
“Shh!” Archie quickly raised a finger to his lips, stopping Summer from revealing the truth. He reasoned. “I have to pretend I’m ill. My grandson is so busy all the time; he never has the time to visit me.”

Archie chuckled and asked. “When did you learn traditional medicine?”
Summer froze for a moment.
Oh, right, she had almost forgotten. She wasn’t Summer at that moment–she should have been Yelena.
“I just picked it up for fun,” she replied casually, not telling Archie that her skills in traditional medicine were actually passed down through her family.
Despite her unreliable father’s issues with drinking and gambling, his pulse diagnosis skills were exceptional.
Archie gave her a knowing smile.
“Has Theodore returned yet?” Archie asked.
“Yes, Mr. Archie. Mr. Theodore came back but said there was an urgent matter at the company, so he left. He promised to return in the evening to have dinner with you.”
Archie turned to Summer. He shook his head and said, “You see? He’s always
the busiest person in the
world.”
Summer could only smile politely. These family matters weren’t for her to meddle in.
“You and Theodore will be getting married soon. You’ll need to get along well,” Archie said, patting her hand gently. “You’re a good child.”
Summer smiled sweetly, not correcting him.
After all, she was only here to play a role.
It wasn’t like she would actually be living a married life with Theodore.
“Here, a little something for our first meeting. Archie mashed a small, ornate box made of sandalwood toward her. He urged, “See if you like it.”

“You’re too kind. I really can’t–Summer started to rese, but the moment she opened the box, the rest of her sentence got stuck in her throat.
Inside was an incredibly rare pair of emerald bracelets
It was a luxury she could never afford.
“These are one of our family heirlooms, Archic explained as he looked at the bracelets, his gaze growing distant. “I gave them personally to Theodore’s mother many years ago. After she passed, they were put away. Now, they belong to you.”
Summer felt the weight of the bracelets instantly, as though they were burning in her hands. She hurriedly pushed them back and said. “They’re far too valuable. can’t accept them.”
“Of course you can. Only the wife of direct lineage receives this bracelet, Archie said, his eyes flashing with authority as he spoke.
Realizing that pushing them away would be impolite, Summer accepted the bracelets. She was already planning to return them to the Jensons later.
Something so precious couldn’t possibly stay with her what if she accidentally damaged them? There was no way she could afford to replace such a priceless item

“I’m afraid it hasn’t been great recently,” George quickly chimed in, anxious that Archie would downplay his health. “He’s been eating much less than usual.”
“That’s not good. You need to cat properly. How about cook something for you?” Summer asked, already rolling up her sleeves. “Where’s the kitchen?”
George was quick to notice Archie’s fondness for Summer.
He immediately led her to the kitchen without waiting for instructions.
In the kitchen, Summer was like a queen. She was confident and unchallenged.
While carefully washing her hands, Summer explained the situation to George. “Archie’s appetite has been bad because his last illness really weakened his internal organs. It might seem like it’s just a lung issue, but it’s actually affecting his whole system. His age has slowed down his digestion, and eating heavy, greasy foods will only make things worse by overworking his stomach. If we focus on helping his digestion with light, easy–to–process but nutritious meals, his body wil naturally start to recover, and in no time, he’ll feel much better.”
As she talked, she moved swiftly. Before long, lunch was ready.
In just over half an hour, a meal that was both delicious and fragrant was placed in front of Archie.
