There had been no surveillance footage at the spot where Stella pushed Maisie down the stairs. When Stella realized what she’d done, panic took over, and she ran to her brothers for help.

Through Sacha’s connections, Davina found a black market distributor and registered under an alias, uploading a few listings for her herbal concoctions.
The first rule of survival in this world? Money.
And she needs it fast.
She could make money by healing people, of course. But how many patients with rare, life–threatening illnesses showed up at her door? It wasn’t like she could go around hurting people just so she could patch them back up again.
And besides, there were bottom lines a healer shouldn’t cross, Some allments weren’t hers to cure.
So Davina reached out to Percy. She needed a side job–something that paid quickly.
“This is supposed to be fast money?” Davina glanced down at the casting call and script in her hands.

No way would they want the details getting out. Publicly, they’d told everyone she’d left the country. Her birth mother, Kate Summer’s shrill voice, chimed in from the background. “You’ve disgraced the family name! If Stella hadn’t told us, we’d still be in the dark!
“I’m warning you–this is your last chance. Come home, or we’ll cut you off for good!”
Davina furrowed her brows and suggested, “You might want to see a doctor. Sounds like something’s wrong with your heads. Oh–and just so you know, harboring a criminal and fabricating evidence is a felony in this country. You want to go to prison

Like a switch had been flipped, the line went dead silent. The yelling stopped.
It was as if she’d struck a nerve–hit them exactly where it hurt. Not another word came through. The world, for just a moment, was quiet again.
