Stella’s expression was a mask of false concern as she spoke. I’m not holding a grudge, but I’m warning you for your own good. If you keep lingering here and drawing attention to yourself, you’ll just cause a scene. Soon enough, everyone will
know
Her tone suggested she genuinely cared for Davina’s well–being, but her words painted a very different picture.
She was implying that Davina was nothing more than a kept woman–a worthless, low–class person who didn’t belong in this world
As soon as the words left Stella’s mouth, the group’s perception of Davina shifted. Those who had once admired her beauty now regarded her with disdain.
The high–society world, despite its indulgence and flirtations, had little patience for women who were seen as mistresses.
The label of “kept woman” was something the wealthy wives and daughters of these families despised more than anything-
Jone of Stella’s friends, a young woman of high standing, couldn’t hide her distaste. “Stella, why waste your time on this trash?
Why be polite to someone who doesn’t even belong here? Just tell her to leave before she ruins the mood of the event.”
“Exactly,” another added, her tone dripping with derision. “How did someone like her even get invited to a Barlow Group
event?”
Before they had arrived, Stella had shared her unflattering thoughts about Davina with her friends.
She told them about Davina’s supposed jealousy of her, her tendency to cause drama, and her involvement in a livestream incident.
To them, Davina had become nothing more than a shameless gold–digger.
Kennedy, still watching Davina, furrowed his brow.
Despite the harsh words being hurled her way, he couldn’t help but be drawn to her calm smile and composed demeanor in
the face of Stella’s verbal attack.
“I find it strange,” Davina said, a faint smile curling her lips, “It seems that wherever I go, you always manage to sniff me out.”
Her eyes were icy as she glanced at Stella. “Honestly, I’m more concerned about catching rabies from you.”
Her insult was sharp and clear, easily understood by anyone nearby.
Stella’s face flushed crimson with anger, but she struggled to keep her composure, forcing a feigned innocent look.
“How can you be so rude? I’m trying to help you. Don’t you see your place here? Do you really think coming here will change anything for you? You don’t belong in this world. With your background, you’ll just become the laughingstock of everyone.”
Davina’s smile turned cool and mocking as she spoke slowly, each word deliberate. “Who told you I’m someone’s mistress?”
Kennedy’s interest appeared to deepen, and his gaze softened as he studied Davina
Stella furrowed her brow, pretending to be confused. “Didn’t you say so yourself? If your man hadn’t brought you here, you’d never have made it. Someone like you doesn’t belong in a place like this
Another young woman who had been standing with Stella echoed her sentiments. “A country bumpkin like you–if it weren’t for some rich man supporting you, how would you even be invited to Barlow Group’s event?”
“Did you think that by wearing a fake haute couture dress, you’d suddenly become a princess? Don’t forget, no matter how much you try to dress up, a crow will never turn into a swan. You’re the type of woman who shows up at events like this and embarrasses all of us, another woman sneered, her face full of disdain.
Both women disapproved of Stella’s kind act, questioning why she was still so courteous to someone like Davina.
After all, this was the same woman who had caused them trouble.

Though they were some distance away. Stella had ensured her words were loud enough for others to hear.

Given the attention they were already drawing, it was clear that most people in the area had overheard the conversation, including the Summers, who were observing from a distance.
Davina raised an eyebrow and gave a sharp smile. “Someone like me? What do you mean by that?”
Just as she spoke, Percy stepped forward. “Ms. Davina,” he greeted her respectfully.
When Stella saw Percy, she immediately pointed him out. “That’s him!”
She emphasized, “Isn’t this the man you’re with? So, you came here with this rich man, didn’t you? No matter what, you can’t keep lowering yourself like this! You’ll end up destroying families. You’ll become the subject of scandall”
Stella’s words were clear–she was implying that this man was the one supporting Davina, the so–called “sugar daddy” behind the pretty woman.
