The family fell into a heavy silence.
They all shared the same thought: How did Davina end up being the Barlow heir? It was hard for them to believe, and they couldn’t quite make sense of it.

Thomas’s expression darkened even more. “Don’t just talk about offending the Barlows. After tonight, I’m sure everyone in that room will be looking at us with suspicion.”
Stella kept quiet, not daring to speak.
“Let’s head home,” Blair said, leading the way toward the car.
The rest of the family followed, climbing into the cars as they headed home. They couldn’t just stand around in front of the hotel all night, exposed to the cold.
Stella trailed behind, walking quietly.
Though she had received some comfort earlier, it didn’t help much with the knot of unease that was growing inside her.
From the moment they left the event until they were on their way home, no one spoke to her.
She felt anxiety building in her stomach, her mind consumed by hatred for Davina
