Davina descended the stairs slowly, chatting on the phone. “Just take care of everything. I trust you,” she said before hanging

She checked her watch as she reached the front door of the villa, then got into her car and drove off toward Scenic Hall.
Scenic Hall was Marlon’s home at the moment–a peaceful garden estate.
The tranquility of the place was not just in the atmosphere but in its vastness as well.
Perhaps because she had called ahead, Davina’s car was allowed to pass straight through the gate without delay.
She parked and walked directly into the sitting room.
A maid approached her as soon as she entered. “Are you Ms. Summer?”
Davina nodded. “Yes. Where is everyone?”
The maid glanced at the clock and seemed surprised. “You’re early! Mr. Marlon is in the backyard, exercising. Please, make yourself comfortable. I’ll go let him know you’ve arrived.”
Davina checked the time as well, a little taken aback.
Am I that early?
She glanced at her watch again, only to realize it had stopped working.
“That’s fine,” she said, waving it off. “Let him finish his workout”
The maid smiled and nodded. “Of course. Please, feel free to sit down.”
Davina acknowledged him briefly, then asked. “Where’s the bathroom?”

She made her way up the stairs, intending to freshen up quickly. Following the maid’s directions, she didn’t have to walk far before spotting a bathroom.
The door was closed, and assuming it was unoccupied, she opened it without hesitation.
As soon as she stepped inside, a blast of steam hit her face.
The sound of the shower stopped immediately.
