Even though Davina’s whole sequence had happened in just a few seconds, Hailey–who often trained at the range with Jasper and had some shooting experience herself–could tell how advanced Davina’s actions really were.
And Davina hadn’t even bothered to put on any protective gear. She simply raised the gun and got into a textbook shooting

As the string of gunshots echoed through the air, someone on the other side of the range frowned.

Another man beside him, who was calmly wiping down his pistol, didn’t respond. He didn’t seem particularly interested.
But then the range’s broadcast system suddenly erupted in a burst of triumphant drums–and both men’s expressions. changed instantly.

Five consecutive bullseyes would trigger the system to play a celebratory sound clip over the speakers–a little flourish for guests who wanted to show off.

“Five bullseyes in a row. Not much, but clearly not a rookie,” the first man said with a chuckle.
“Wanna go check it out?” he asked the man next to him–Kennedy.
Kennedy smoothly pushed a magazine into his pistol with one hand but didn’t answer.
A second round of music blared from the speakers–the sound of ten consecutive bullseyes.
Now, everyone’s attention was caught. The guests who had just been watching for fun were suddenly alert and moving in to get a better look
Some of them even thought one of the club’s legendary sharpshooters must have shown up.
But when did they see who it actually was?

Davina looked over, slightly surprised to see the speaker.

Kennedy stood there with a soft, gentlemanly smile, his demeanor unhurried and composed. Plenty of rounds.”
Davina didn’t hesitate. She took the gun directly from his hand.
“Thanks,” she said, curling her lips into a small smile. “I won’t waste a single bullet”
At that, a hint of amusement flickered in Kennedy’s eyes. “Good”
The moment he handed over his gun, a ripple went through the crowd.
Anyone who had spent a decent amount of time at this range knew there were two sharpshooting legends here.
But the thing was–most people had never actually seen them in person.
Whenever one of those two showed up, the celebratory music practically didn’t stop playing

they never appeared together. No one had ever seen both at the same time.
And Kennedy–he was one of them.
Normally, Kenedy trained in his own private section of the range.
But today? Not only had he come out into the public range–he’d leht someone his own gun.
Who the hell is this girl that even Kennedy would offer up his weapon?
Davina raised the pistol, then turned slightly toward Kennedy. “Live rounds, she said.
