Chapter 11

I had sacrificed everything for Adrian. When my parents passed away, I used every penny of my inheritance to support his dreams
for his education abroad, standing by him through
every obstacle. Three years of waiting, believing in us, only to return to this?
I swallowed the lump in my throat, keeping my voice steady. “I’m not petty or jealous. I understand why this is happening. When you have a child with her, your future will be set.”
I could see the flicker of guilt in Adrian’s eyes, but it didn’t matter anymore. I wasn’t done. “As for whether you still share a bed with her after she gets pregnant–that’s not my concern.”
My words were sharp, and I knew they stung. Adrian rushed to reassure me. “Don’t worry. If she gets pregnant, I won’t touch her again.”
I let out a small, bitter laugh. “No need to pacify me. I’m not that petty.” I turned away, the weight. of betrayal pressing down on me.
Vivian, the woman
landing across from me–the woman Adrian had chosen–scoffed. “Being a woman in this world is hard enough. Why must we tear each other down? You, of all people, should understand.
“You act like I’m just some pawn, as if my only worth comes from giving birth to an heir. Do you think that’s all I am? Do you think I have no purpose beyond this?”
My voice was strong, but she saw the vulnerability beneath it.
she sighed, shaking my head. “You’re making this bigger than it needs to be.”
my gaze turned icy. “Let’s just get this over with. Adrian, I want a legal seperation. There’s no point in dragging this out any longer.”
Adrian looked stunned, “seperation? You don’t mean that. You’re just upset.”
I let out a cold laugh. “Do you think I’m the type to blufl? You believe you can push me into a corner and expect me to stay quiet? I know how much reputation means to women like you, Vivian. But let me tell you something–I don’t scare that easily. If you want to leave, then leave. Just don’t expect me to grovel or beg.
Adrian turned to me, desperation creeping into his voice. “Cassandra, we were only thinking of you. We were trying to make this easier.
I kept my expression composed, even as my heart twisted. “You weren’t thinking of me. You were. thinking of yourselves. You claim this is for my sake, but let’s not pretend. It’s sickening to hear,”
Adrian ran a hand through his hair, his frustration evident. “That’s not what I meant. You’re misunderstanding”

vivin took a step closer, lowering her voice, but the power in her words was undeniable. “If Adrian leaves you, you will be discarded. You won’t have the security you has now. Life outside of this world isn’t as kind. So why put yourself through that misery, Cassandra? Why throw away. everything for pride?”
I met her gaze with unshaken resolve. “Because I still have my dignity. And that, Vivian, is something neither of you can take away from me.”
I had given everything to Adrian–my love, my loyalty, and even the inheritance my parents left me. For three years, I funded his education abroad and business expansion believing in the future we had planned together. And now, standing before Vivian, I felt nothing but exhaustion.
“Do as you wish. I’m wBella devoted to Adrian. There’s nothing to hide. Whether praised or criticized. I’ll accept it all,” she said with unwavering confidence.
1 sighed, crossing my arms. “If you truly don’t care about anyone’s opinions, then why are you here?”
Vivian took a step closer, her eyes sharp. “I only came to make one thing clear–I won’t allow you to use this Seperation as a way to gain sympathy or stand in the way of my marriage to Adrian. He and I have earned this future through our own struggles. We won’t tolerate any interference.”
I shook my head, suppressing the bitter laugh rising in my throat. “Just leave. This conversation is pointless. You both have made your choices, and I have no desire to argue. You’re accomplished people I won’t insult the sacrifices you’ve made.”
My father and brothers had all served their country, giving their lives for something greater than thernselves. I had always respected those in business. But this wasn’t about duty–it was about betrayal. And I was done engaging in their twisted justifications.

“Anna, show them out,” I said coolly, lowering my gaze to mask the burning within me.
Anna, who had been listening just outside, stepped in immediately. Her voice was calm, yet firm. “Generals, your love story is your own affair. But please, do not mistreat my lady, nor use your accomplishments to manipulate her.”
Vivian’s face twisted with fury. “How dare you?! You’re just a servant! Who do you think you are to speak to me like that?”
Anna remained poised, refusing to back down, and for the first time, I saw a flicker of uncertainty. in Vivian’s expression. But I had no energy left for this battle. Let them have their so–called victory–because in the end, I had already won my freedom.
