Chapter 311 The Reunion
The next day was the weekend. Sierra accompanied Johnathan to the airport.
Last night, Johnathan had talked to Sierra about Quinn. He said she was his sister, but in truth, she was someone Johnathan’s mother had sponsored for years.
When Johnathan was little, his mother often took him along to volunteer at an orphanage. Quinn had always been adorable, and his mother really liked her. Every time they visited, she made a point to check in on Quinn. She even spoke to the head of the orphanage about adopting her. However, the Wynn family had strict rules. The elders in the family wouldn’t allow it. So she couldn’t take Quinn home.
In the end, his mother could only sponsor Quinn’s education and have her take on the same last name.
After his mother passed away, Johnathan kept the promise and continued supporting Quinn. For years, he looked after her until she went abroad for school. She met someone there, fell in love, and eventually settled overseas. That’s when Johnathan stopped being involved in her life as much.
Quinn had always been the type to only share the good and keep the bad to herself. Johnathan didn’t know what had happened between her and her husband, but it was clear that this sudden return wasn’t for something simple.
Because of what Johnathan had shared, Sierra had formed a rough image of who Quinn might be.
But when she actually met Quinn, she realized she’d been off. She had expected a tough, independent woman. Instead, Quinn was gentle and graceful, with an aura of calm about her.
From a distance, Quinn spotted them and waved with a bright smile. “Johnathan!”
She had one hand holding her child’s and the other pushing her luggage as she approached.
Johnathan and Sierra walked over to help with the bags. Quinn called out again, “Hey!”
Johnathan nodded and glanced at the child holding her hand. “The kid’s gotten big.”
It was actually his first time seeing Quinn’s child.
“Yeah. Say hi to Uncle Johnathan.”
“Uncle Johnathan!”
The child, about three years old, clung tightly to Quinn’s hand and looked a little shy, almost scared of Johnathan.
Quinn gently patted the child’s head. Then her gaze landed on Sierra.
“Hey, Johnathan, is this Ms. Sierra?”
“Yeah. This is Sierra,” Johnathan said, introducing them.
“Just call me Sierra,” she replied quickly. Quinn was a few years older than her, so being called “Ms. Sierra” felt weird.
“No way, it has to be Ms. Sierra.”
Quinn smiled warmly. “If your mother were still around…” She suddenly realized her slip and quickly changed the subject. “Johnathan, let’s grab something to eat. I’ve really missed the food in Capital City!”
“Yeah,” Johnathan agreed, pushing Quinn’s luggage toward the car.
Sierra fell in step beside Quinn and glanced at the child walking with her. “How old is she?”
“She’s three. Her name’s Dora.”

Johnathan dropped Quinn and Dora off at their hotel first, then drove them all to the restaurant.
It was Sierra’s first time at this place, but Quinn seemed very familiar with it.
“It’s been so many years since I’ve been back. This place hasn’t changed at all,” Quinn said with a trace of nostalgia.
Johnathan called the waiter and ordered a few dishes. Then he handed the menu to Quinn.
“That’s plenty,” she said, waving her hand. “There’s no way we can finish all that. And besides, you ordered everything I love. You’ve got a good memory. After all these years, you still remember what I like to eat.”
Sierra glanced at her at that, but Quinn’s expression was calm and relaxed. She looked away.
Johnathan added, “Back then, whenever we ate out, nine times out of ten, we came here. It was always the same dishes–it’d be weird if I didn’t remember. Ask Mateo. He could probably name them all.”
Quinn laughed. “How’s Mateo? Is he doing okay?”
“He’s fine. He had something going on today. He’ll catch up with you another day. But looking at you, I figure you’re not leaving anytime soon.”
At that, Quinn’s smile faded slightly. After a moment, she said softly, “Yeah. I don’t plan on leaving this time.”
Johnathan had already guessed as much. He glanced at Dora beside her but didn’t press further.
Soon, the food arrived. Johnathan placed a rib on Sierra’s plate.
“Try this. They make it really well here–I think you’ll like it.”
Sierra took a bite and nodded. It was indeed delicious.
