Shane made no effort to hide his interest in Sierra, wearing a smile filled with intrigue. “Doesn’t that make it even more fun? Turning the impossible into possible–that’s what I enjoy most.”
Over the next few days, Sierra and her team, including Autumn, focused intensely on researching the mutations in Quinn and Dora’s blood and potential methods to suppress them.
Thanks to the medication Jonathan had administered, their blood reports were significantly different now. The progression of the disease had clearly slowed, and the mutated cells seemed to be under partial control.
“What did you use?” Erwin asked in awe.
“It wasn’t me,” Sierra replied, shaking her head. Jonathan had been the one to find the drug. He hadn’t mentioned the specifics, and she hadn’t asked–but she hadn’t expected the results to be this effective.

He’d claimed they were Jonathan’s. At the time, Sierra hadn’t believed a word. But now… she felt her certainty waver.
No one else noticed her shift in expression. Most of them were huge fans of Jonathan–especially Erwin, who immediately said, “That’s why Mr. Yeager is the best! Incredible!”
Sierra pressed her lips together. She decided she’d ask Jonathan tonight exactly what kind of treatment he had used.
Meanwhile, Jonathan had already uncovered some troubling information. With it in hand, he knocked on Quinn’s door.
“Jonathan!” Quinn looked genuinely happy to see him. “You’re so busy with work–why did you come all the way here?”
Jonathan didn’t get to the point right away. Instead, he asked, “Where’s Dora?”
“In her room, drawing.”
Jonathan went to check. Seeing that Dora truly was sitting quietly with her sketchpad, he softly shut the door behind him.
Keeping his voice calm, mindful that a child was in the house, he asked evenly, “Even now, you still won’t say anything?”
Quinn’s expression shifted. She avoided his gaze completely. “Jonathan, what are you expecting me to say?”
Jonathan stared at her coldly, his eyes narrowing as she grew increasingly flustered. “I really don’t know what you’re talking
about.”
He looked disappointed. “Tell me about Timothy.”
At the mention of the name, Quinn’s entire demeanor changed. She bit her lip. “I don’t want to talk about him.”
“Why not?” Jonathan’s voice dropped, cold and firm. “Because you killed him, didn’t you?”
Quinn froze. Then her eyes widened in shock. “He’s dead? No–Jonathan, you think I did it?”
Jonathan watched her face closely. The surprise in her reaction seemed genuine. No panic. No guilt. Just confusion.
That meant she didn’t know. Or Timothy wasn’t actually dead.
The information he’d received said that Quinn’s ex–husband–Timothy–had disappeared completely. Vanished without a
trace.
That was why Jonathan had suspected he was dead. And if so, that Quinn was involved. Why else would she suddenly come back?

Jonathan looked away briefly. “I didn’t want to. But your return has been strange. And then there’s the blood disorder. You avoided the topic altogether. Tests are standard before pregnancy–if you already had the condition, you wouldn’t have gone through with it. That means you got infected after giving birth to Dora.”
He continued, “If it were just you, maybe it could be explained. But Dora has it too. Tell me–how does a three–year–old end up with the same condition?”
His questions came one after another, relentless, and Quinn’s face grew increasingly pained.
After a long silence, she finally said, “Jonathan, I wasn’t trying to keep anything from you. I just didn’t know how to explain it. You have no idea… after everything that happened, the one thing I regretted the most was not listening to you back then.”
She went on, “You told me Timothy wasn’t right for me. I didn’t listen. I even got angry at you, and we stopped talking for a long time. Later, I wanted to reach out, but I couldn’t. You thought I was still holding a grudge–but the truth is, I had no
choice.”
Quinn took a deep breath. “Timothy was a genetic researcher. When I met him, he was obsessed with his work. I didn’t think that was a bad thing–I didn’t need constant companionship. But what I never imagined…. Jexperiment on me. And on Dora.”
