Salvatore’s POV:

After wrapping up work, a strong premonition nagged at me from deep within. This feeling was always accurate, a natural intuition of mine, alerting me to potential dangers.
So, I hurried back to the Leone residence to check on Bella.
I was right; my mother had come to cause trouble for Bella again.
Seeing all three of them dirty, I deduced that a shameful family scene had just unfolded here.
Bella looked indifferent. Under normal circumstances, a wife might have approached her husband feeling wronged, seeking comfort with tears.
I sighed softly, pulled a handkerchief from my jacket pocket, and gently wiped her face. Turning away, I said, “The Leone residence is my wife’s home. She didn’t invite you here, and it’s unbecoming of your status to intrude uninvited.”
Over the years, my relationship with my mother hadn’t been as harmonious as outsiders
imagined, especially after I became the godfather, with her taking more control over my personal life.
In her words, she worried I might turn out like my father.
*Salvatore, you never used to talk back to me like this,” my mother said, putting on a tearful act, though her performance was poor, with no real tears falling.
“Is that so?” I replied coldly, staring her down until she dared not speak further.
“Salvatore, it’s been a while. How have you been lately?” It seems my allergy to women hasn’t gone away; just this stranger trying to speak to me made me feel nauseous.
Suppressing the discomfort in my stomach, I told Alex, “Alex, please take my mom home.”
“Salvatore, don’t be fooled by her innocent appearance; she’s no good.”
My gaze lingered on the delicate face of the young girl. Was I really as foolish in my mother’s eyes? Foolish enough to be deceived by a woman?
“If I were foolish enough to be deceived by a woman, I wouldn’t be fit to sit as the godfather.”
In front of my mother, I held no dignity as a godfather. Yes, I was always just her son.
‘Salvatore, I must remind you, the night before you returned, Bella went off to some hotel to fool around, coming back in that man’s clothes! Such a lowly woman could never befit the status of a godfather’s wife. You’re still young and unaware of how eagerly other families vie for power. We must choose a more suitable woman to be the godfather’s wife! And Roxy is the best choice!”
