I just told Irene’s parents what happened to their young daughter, they didn’t seem bothered by the news.
“We disowned that girl a long time ago. My soon to be father in law says, totally unemotional.
They disowned their feeling for her too! What if this people mistreated the girl and she ended up being bitter and full of hatred? there, would she have let her own sister get mistreated by their parents?

I have never seen Irene’s sister before today. When I saw her, she looked like a neglected street child. Her clothes looked worn out and too dirty. If she had shifted, how come she still had clothes?
I heard her shouting Philly’s name before she saw me, saying something about getting flowers and being lost in the darkness.
Wolves see bule in darkness, right? And why would she call Philly if she really had attacked them?

1 hear hushed sobs coming from a guest room as I am leaving Irene’s home. I go to the door and knock
“Hello! Would you like to talk?” I say to whoever is crying in the room.
“You killed her, didn’t you?‘ Irene’s grandmother demands, her voice is strained.
I know who she is talking about. She is the only one that seems disturbed by the girls demise.
“No. Her mate tossed her down the bridge, the one next to the waterfall I explain.
“She is dead?! Go away! I don’t want to see your face again!” The prophetess yells.
What? Now I am the villain!
“She attacked my mate, she gave me no option!” I say.
“Mate?” I hear the woman say and laugh. The kind of laugh that makes your stomach twist.
“My Love!” I hear Irene’s voice behind me. I turn. She is wearing a short. flowerly dress made of thin, almost see through fabric. She is wearing make up, a lot of it.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see my mate having been dressing up to please me. But her sister just died, surely she must be feeling something Surprisingly, she got a thrilled smile on her face.
Maybe there is a reason no one seems to give a shit about the girl who just died.
I go to Irene, she presses her body against mine. I can’t smell her real scent, only expensive perfume.
“What are you doing here?” She asks
“Informing your family that their daughter died. I am sorry!” I say.
“No one cares if that animal dies” Irene mutters
Well, that is astonishing. “When I saw your sister, she looked kind of neglected. Did your parents take care of her?” I ask.
“If you’re going to be talking about that pig, you may leave. I don’t feel like answering questions concerning her. She replies.
Yeah, I think I need a break. Everything is so complicated here. “I think I am a bit tired. I will come see you tomorrow, have a good night
1 had my friends were having a small party in my room, I was coming to invite you. But looks like you’re in bad mood, you’re likely to spoil our party.” She pecks my cheek. “Goodnight my love!”
She turns and goes back to her room, flushes me a smile before the door shuts
I descend the rest of the stairs to the spacious living room. Doreen, my former house maid, is cleaning the place. There are tears on her face and she constantly hits her lower lip as if in anger.

I sent Doreen here because I thought she was the best person to take care of my mate. Irene had already appointed a servant of her own, someone
chose name I don’t remember and I am yet to meet them. I sent Doreen here anyway, because I felt she was better than anyone.
“Your Majesty!” She says and quickly bows when she sees me.
“Your crying, why?” I ask. She hastily wipes if the tears.
“I just heard Sarah died! She was a very hardworking servant.” Doreen answers
“Servant? Whose servant?!” I ask baffled.
“You didn’t know! Sarah was Irene’s servant. You approved Irene’s request to make her little sister her servant, remember?” Doreen says, more tears running down her cheeks.
This can’t be right. Irene made her sister servand Why? I have been here several times and I have never seen that girl around. I know all my mate’s servants, how come 1 had not seem that girl before.

“Basement !?” I ask in confusion. Irene’s sister lived in the basement! I thought there were enough rooms in this house?!
“Can you take me to the room? I ask. Doreen nods and leads the way.
“You sure this is it?” I ask when she stops in front of a door marked ‘storage room. I can see the room also has no lights.
Yes. This is Sarah’s room.” Doreen answers.
1 click open the door and I am immediately welcomed in by that sweet scent, the one I had formally thought was Irene’s
One look at the so called room leaves my mouth gaping. There is nothing in here. Not a single furniture. Only an old mattress lays on the floor and a dirty rag on top of it. There is another small rag spread on the floor at a corner, there are all kinds of beads laid on it. There are also beautiful necklaces and bracelets beside the beads
“She loved making them, the necklaces and bracelets.” Doreen supplies. “She once told me she would love to open a business to sell them once Irene goes to live in the palace. Her parents had told her to leave their home since she didn’t even phase after her eighteenth birthday” She adds.
“Yet the first thing she did the moment she phased was attack Irene. If anyone had mistreated her, I think it’s what she deserved.” I say and see Doreen’s eyes glare at me with so much anger.
“I am sorry Your Majesty, but I don’t believe that bullshit!” She says before storming out of the room.
I try following her but she splits into a run. “Hope you still say that after your wedding day!” She shouts before disappearing behind a door upstain.
What the hell is going on here? Maybe Mother will help me figure it out.
I leave Irene’s home and head to the palace. I find both my little family eating their late dinner under the bright lights of the patio. My nuclear family includes only my father, the king of the pack, and my mother, his Luna. They are both werewolves, somehow got lucky to have a child from Goddess Israel, they keep saying.
“Found the girl?” Mother asks as I approach the table.
“You look terrible! Didn’t you find her?” Father ask
I sit and mother pours me a cupful of hot tea. “I am not sure what’s happening in that home.” I answer.
“What do you mean, is Irene still avoiding your Asks mother.
I shake my head. I hate their questioning, they make me feel like a child. So I quickly tell them all I think is going wrong.
“That’s complex indeed! And what does Irene say?” Father questions.
“She doesn’t want to talk about her pig sister. She doesn’t seem even slightly sad” [answer,
“You know what I think, our prophetess has always been right, Irene is the right person. You never know why she hates her sister or made her a servant. There may be a reasonable explanation. But don’t push her, she may get emotional and it’s only days before she phases Mother advises.
