The Pain Her Cheek Chapter 16

Chapter 16

Sirumä

Breaking the rules was always a risk, something Sienna didn’t do very oftenexcept for her nightly visits to the gym to see Joel. But here, in Light Sky Pack’s lands, there were no rules, at least not as many. So.. when Jenna had sent her out of her room. Sienna had run with it. Literally

I had been a long time since she’d shifted. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Sienna headed deep into the woods, looked around to make sure she was alone, stored her clothes somewhere where she thought they’d be safe, and shifted into her wolf form

It hurt just a little because she didn’t shift very often, only a handful of times in her life. She’d been forbidden to do so. Besides, most of the time. she was working in the Alpha’s home or at the gym secretly training, so she didn’t have time. And back home, there were patrols in the woods at all times even late at night. If they saw her, they’d tell Alpha Kent. The chances of her being mistaken for another wolf were slim to none because of ber coloring

Sienna was a rare blue woll

She wasn’t bright blue, not like the sky or a neon sign. No, it was more of a gray, a son blackishblue color, and it wasn’t all of her fur either. Like most wolves, she had shades of gray, black, and white. But the majority of her highlights were in this rare blue shade that set her apart from most other wolves. Like her bright blue eyes, her fur made her stand out, and it was hard to hide it in her wolf form. It wasn’t like she could grow her other fur out to secure it like she grew her bangs to hide her eyes. Here, there was no one looking for her, no one watching, no one who would report to Alpha Kent. At least, that was her hope

If she ran fast enough, no one would see her anyway

Sienna took off tearing between the trees, dodging around shrubs, and jumping over fallen logs. The autumn air filled her lungs and brought new life into her soul. Seeing a stream ahead of her. Sienna aimed right for it, jumping in and splashing around. This was a great way to get herself clean without a shower. Since she had no idea if she’d be allowed to use the shower at Kaden’s house, she may as well rinse off here

Not that she didn’t intend to get sweaty again. As soon as she was done in the water, she burst out on the other side of the shore and took off running again, feeling like a pup out running in the world for the first time on new legs. The green grass was springy beneath her as dried leaves crumbled and fresh autumn paint chips flittered from the trees all around her

She ran until her muscles began to grow sore and then turned and headed back toward the place where she’d stored her clothing. The sun was beginning to go down. Even though Jenna had sent her away, she knew she’d want her for something…

Running through the woods did wonders for the way she was feeling, but it didn’t clear her mind, not enough anyway. As she crossed back over water and headed back toward the tree, thoughts of the Alpha she was fated to came to mind

He was so unbelievably goodlooking, in a way that didn’t even seem fair to the rest of the world’s population. Really, with those smoldering eyes. ripped muscles, and perfectly coiffed hair, he was a walking dream

But being fated to marry him was going to be a nightmare for her, that was for sure. After all, there was no way he’d want to be with her, and she couldn’t blame him. The next few days would be torture, and then she’d go back home and be tortured there until she had a chance to run away

Then what

Then She’d spend the rest of her miserable life wandering around in the woods by herself, trying to survive packs of rogues, human hunters, and other animals. Everything about her future seemed dim like there was no point to any of it, and she may as well just go looking for a fight so perhaps she could die for a good cause

A pair of chipmunks shuffled out of a nearby tree and approached her chirping. Sienna put her nose down and snuggled against their soft fur. Her whole life, animals had loved her, even when she was in her wolf form. It might have made her feel like less of a wolf, but it didn’t. It was if they saw she wasn’t a predator to them, that she was fair and kind

The two animals alerted. Their backs went straight, and they scampered away. She realized why. There were humans nearby. Slowly, Sienna continued on her way back to where she’d left her clothes, staying near the trees

When she saw who it was, her eyes widened. She was in trouble

Sylvia and her friends had found her clothing in the tree, and they were laughing, trying to figure out what to do with them. The idea of going back into town with no clothes on, even though nudity was not that big of a deal in their culture, was terrifying. If she was naked when she got back to Kaden’s house, Jenna would know that she had shifted. She’d probably break her arm

Sienna was going to have to do something to scare Sylvia and her friends off. Even though she didn’t want to have another confrontation with these girls, she couldn’t let this happen

Staying in her wolf form, she approached them slowly, hoping she could just scare them off and they’d drop her clothes

Let’s just burn them,” one of the other girls was saying

Or throw them in the stream!Another girl laughed

One of the more timidlooking girls said, Didn’t Kaden tell you not to pick on her or something. Syl

Sylvia scoffed. He told me to stay away from her. I mean, technically, she’s not even here, right? She’s probably out there rolling in dog manure or something so she can keep up her lovely scent! That made everyone laugh

Come on! Let’s just take them back to town, and we’ll get rid of them then.”

out from between

the trees

The girls were starting to leave. Sienna crouched down ready to pounce when someone

else stepped out fr

“What are you up to, ladies?he said. Sienna couldn’t see his face, only that he was a muscular man with dark hair

Oli, nothingSylvia stammered. Just going back to town.”

someone else’s clothing?he asked. You all know the pack rules about disturbing someone else’s clothing. I doubt any of you want to miss the ball because you’re being punished for breaking a pack rule”

It’s not that,” one of the other girls lied. We were asked to bring them back in her”

Yeah. That doesn’t break a rule, another girl said

He wasn’t buying it. Girls, why don’t you leave the clothes and go on back to the events center?”

guess our friend who asked us to get her clothes will just be mad that she has to go home naked, but we’ll tell her to come and

Fine,Sylvia uid. I guess i talk to you, John!”

The girls stormed off, dropping Sienna’s clothing on the ground, and dropping snide comments about John and Sienna as they went. Once they were gone, Sienna breathed a sigh of relief, glad she wouldn’t have to deal with Jenna’s wrath. Not over this anyway

John, whoever he was, scooped her clothes up and took them back over to the tree where Sienna had thought she’d hidden them. In fairness, they smelled so bad that there was a good chance any wolf could’ve sniffed them out from a mile away

He looked in her direction and said, Coast is clear, Sweetheart,” and headed off back toward the village at a brisk pace

Sweetheart! The word seemed different coming out of his mouth. She wasn’t sure what to make of it. Maybe he was just one of those guys who was nice to everyone. Or maybe he just felt bad for her because she was such a mess. At any rate, she was thankful she had her clothes and hurried to get dressed before Sylvia and her friends came back

Once she was dressed. Sienna headed back to Kaden’s house, hoping to avoid him as much as she wanted to avoid getting knocked around by Jenna. At least, when Jenna hit her, she was used to it. Those blows to her face landed by the Alpha’s daughter didn’t hurt nearly as much as the blows to her heart she was already starting to endure from Alpha Kaden
