Chapter 34
Kaden
Going outside to clear his head and get some fresh air had seemed like a good idea at the time. As soon as he came around the side of the house, he picked up on Sienna’s fragrance and recognized he’d made a mistake.
Something was different about her scent this time though. It was stronger and more intense. He felt compelled to follow it and investigate. Even though his brain was telling him he needed to just walk away, he couldn’t seem to do that
And then he saw her…..
Immediately, he understood why she’d just stood there staring at him the other day when he was undressed. She’d been like a statue, unblinking. unwavering, muaybe not even breathing. That’s how he was now, though he knew he was breathing because he could still smell her on the breeze.
Standing off amongst the trees, wearing only her underwear, with the cold water from the hose running over her body, she was the picture of womanly beauty. Her skin was smooth like silk as the water ran across it. Even the old bruises and scratches had faded, and she looked healthy and strong. Her curves were all in just the right places, and his hands tingled with the desire to run across them and trace her shape. The frigid water brought her peaks to life beneath the thin fabric of the lary bra she wore. Thoughts of running his thumb across her flesh, of taking her between his lips, pulling, nipping, tasting her, created a tightening low in his abdomen and an excitement coursing through him that he’d never experienced before.
One flip of that lo
f that long, dark hair over her shoulder, and Kaden’s heart nearly exploded out of his chest.
And then she saw him.
Like a wild animal, frozen in the middle of the road with headlights bearing down on him, Kaden couldn’t move and couldn’t breathe. He couldn’t do anything. Sienna’s eyes locked on his face for a few moments, but then she looked away. He hoped it would break the spell. Even as she went about putting an oversized T–shirt on over her sopping wet underclothes and pushing her feet into her old tennis shoes, before sliding a pair of gant shorts on over her shoes, he was still staring.
She was then walking in his direction.

“Good morning, Alpha,” Sienna said, staying about ten feet away from him. Gone was the subservient, downeast stature she Instead, she was looking directly into his eyes. She seemed amused about it too.
“Good morning, Sienna,” he managed. “You’ve been busy today.” He honestly had no idea what she had been up to, but he figured if she was hosing herself down, she must’ve been for a run or something. She went over to the hose and turned it over before rolling it back onto the spindle. He should’ve been a gentleman and helped, but he was still rooted in place.
“I went for a run,” she said with a shrug. “And Alec showed me the private gym. I hope you don’t mind that I used it.”
A sharp pain stabbed him right in the chest, but it had nothing to do with her using the gym. It was Alec. Why had he taken her to train! That wasn’t cool. Alec had no business being one on one with his Sienna—or, uh, just Sienna–in that little gym.
He couldn’t say that though. Instead, he attempted to be casual about it. “Cool. Yeah, that’s cool.”
Again, Senna was smirking at him. She came back over to where he was standing but not too close. “Please don’t mention to Jenna or anyone that I was training. I don’t think she would like it.”
His forehead crinkled. “Why would she care!”
“She doesn’t want me to be a threat Sienna said with a shrug.
He nodded. That made sense. “It stinks that you’re not allowed to do the things that wolves are allowed to do”
Her face changed for a moment as a wave of sadness washed over her. Im not even allowed to do the thin
things that a human is allowed to do, Alpha.”
He took a deep brath, realizing that she was right. She was treated like an animal but not a wolf. It was more like a dog–a mutt that lived on the street. It wasn’t fair. He could change that. All he had to do was speak up and claim her the way he was meant to do. But he couldn’t do that. He wouldn’t do that
“Anyway, I didn’t want to bother your grandmother to use the shower again, so I decided to just wash off out here? “It’s not a bother,” he assured in
Ther. “Grandma really likes you. She wouldn’t mind at all letting you use her shower or “Your grandmother is the kindest person I’ve ever met

Her blue eyes were sincere when she spoke, and it touched Kaden’s heart. He wished she would talk that way about him. Hut he hadn’t cared those words. “She is,” he agreed. Kaden took a deep breath as she started to head around the other side of the house. He didn’t want her to go. He didn’t want to stop talking about her. Now, the image of her wet body, her underclothes clinging to her in the chilly water, would be stuck in his mind, just like the image of her with that towel wrapped around her. He just kept getting himself in deeper and deeper.

Chapter 34
“I’ll see you later, Alpha,” she said, with the level of respect in her voice he would’ve expected. As she turned to go, he found himself calling out to her. “You know. You could work out with me sometime. If you want.”
She turned and raised an eyebrow, and he wondered why in the world he’d said that. He didn’t want to work out with her. He didn’t want to be anywhere near her. The closer he got to her, the more attractive he found her. The more attractive she was, the harder it was going to be to walk away from her when this was all over.
“Thanks” Sienna said, “but… It might be a little awkward now that you’ve seen me in my underwear.”
He grinned at her as a chuckle escaped his lips. “Well, you’ve seen me naked, so…”
Her face turned red, and she looked away. He expected her to become that shy, reserved girl he’d first met a few days ago. Instead, she just said. “Yes, yes I did.” like it was the proudest moment of her life. He felt his face heating up and had to turn away from her.
Under his breath, he muttered, “I’m never gonna get that image out of my head.”
Sienna laughed and said, “Well, if it helps any, these are your grandmother’s underwear, so…..
“You ruined it! You ruined it!” Kaden exclaimed, and they both started laughing. Somehow the distance between them closed up, and they were standing next to each other. She was dripping wet still, beautiful, and smelled divine. Laughing with her made him feel more at ease than he could remember being in a long time. How easy would it be to reach over, brush his hand against her porcelain cheek, and pull her close? He could press his lips to hers and end this torture in only a few seconds
She was looking up at him through those long, dark eyelashes. Their laughing subsided, and Kaden found himself leaning closer. Alarms were going off in his mind, but his heart was assuring him this was right.
It would only take an inch or two more, and his lips would be pressed to hers
“Sienna“”
The sound of Jenna screaming her name had Sienna leaping back away from. Kaden’s eyes were wide as he realized what had almost happened. He wanted to run away from her, to flee the scene of the almost–crime. Once again, he found himself unable to move.
This time it was because he knew if he walked away, Jenna would lay into Sienna far worse than she would with him standing there. When the blonde came around the corner with her hands on her hips, her eyes landed on Sienna first. There you are, you stupid b*tch!” She then looked up and saw Kaden. “Oh, hi, Alpha Kaden.” Her face morphed into a garish smile. “How are you this morning?”
“Hi, Jenna,” he said. “Sorry. Sienna was doing some work for me,
Sienna looked at him and raised an eyebrow, but she didn’t say anything
“Ola, okay,” Jenna seemed to let it go at that, so at least she wouldn’t get in trouble. “Well come on! You’ve got a lot to do to get me ready for the ball tonight!
“Yes. Miss Jenna Siena gave him one more look that made his heart hammer against his chest. She was mad at him because he didn’t stand up her. He should have. He’d been trying to protect her, but he hadn’t quite gone as far as he could have. Now, she was angry,
She hadn’t ruined it. He’d ruined it.
