“Please be quiet.
“The speech is about to begin. The principal will give a welcoming speech first.”
The host’s words interrupted the fight between Charlotte and Mariah.
Marcus was a very charming man. His behavior showed natural confidence. Though aloof, Marcus was deadly attractive. He looked both reserved and dazzling.
Charlotte looked at the man talking on the stage. She held her cheeks with both hands and could not help but rise. Charlotte seemed to be obsessed.
“Charlotte, you are drooling,” Natalia teased.
Charlotte was shocked and quickly reached out to touch her mouth. She wasn’t drooling.
“Natalia, lying is not a good habit.” Charlotte reached out and flicked Natalia’s forehead.
“Can you be cool? I think you’re almost drooling.” Natalia pouted and touched her forehead.
“Girl, what’s wrong with me drooling all over my man?” Charlotte whispered in Natalia’s ear.
“I thought your man was Terry.” Natalia’s eyes were open wide and round like balls.
“Don’t mention that jerk in front of me.” Charlotte paused for a second and then continued, “This man isn’t mine yet. But he will be mine sooner or later.”
Natalia rolled her eyes thinking, “All the girls in the school will think the same way.”
Marcus‘ gaze occasionally drifted over to the first row. Mariah clenched her hands into fists. Her nails pierced her palms. It was bleeding.
Who in the first row was Marcus looking at?
The answer was so obvious.
Mariah wondered if it was Charlotte who picked up Marcus‘ phone in the morning.
Mariah was so jealous that she almost went mad. But she remained tender and elegant.
At the end of the speech, there was a question–and–answer session.
“Mr. Gallegos, do you have a girlfriend?”
“No.”
“Mr. Gallegos, what kind of girl do you like?”
Marcus was silent.
Seeing that Marcus did not answer, the host was about to come up to smooth things over.
“I don’t like girls.”
What did he say?
He didn’t like girls!
Charlotte coughed.
She was drinking water and almost choked.

The venue was in an uproar.
Everyone in Oldburn knew that Mariah was the fiancée designated by the Gallegos family for Marcus. However, Marcus said that he didn’t like women.
Mariah felt that people’s gazes were suddenly all on her.
People mocked her, felt sorry for her, or found it pitiful.
Anyway, Mariah almost couldn’t maintain the fake smile on her face.
Of course, Charlotte did not believe Marcus‘ words. But seeing Mariah’s defeated look, she was so happy.
Charlotte shook her head, pretending to be sympathetic. She looked at Mariah up and down. “Ms. Todd, you’ve been by Marcus‘ side for so long. But you actually changed his sexuality.
“Ms. Todd, your charm…” Charlotte didn’t finish her words, but her meaning was obvious.
Jalen was shocked by Charlotte’s blunt words. He clenched his fist to his lips and coughed. Jalen thought, “She is so bold. Mariah isn’t a pushover.”
“Ms. Dennis, thank you for the compliments. I grew up with Marcus. He doesn’t need to say anything. We both know that.” Mariah blushed and looked shy.
At that moment, Marcus had already finished answering questions and was standing in front of the two women.
“Marcus…”
“Marcus…”
Charlotte and Mariah looked at each other and said at the same time.
The speech had ended, and the students in the hall lined up to leave.
Marcus, who should have gone backstage, appeared in front of Charlotte and Mariah.
The two women called Marcus together.
The two women were silently competing. They wanted to see who Marcus cared more about.
Marcus raised his eyes, glanced over Charlotte’s face, and looked at Mariah. “What’s the matter?”
“Let’s go home.” Mariah acted as if she were Marcus‘ wife.
Charlotte twitched her mouth unhappily.
“I still have something to do,” Marcus said bluntly, though it embarrassed Mariah. He stretched out his slender finger and pointed at Charlotte’s forehead. “Come with me.”
Mariah’s face turned sullen. Charlotte was so happy that her eyes and brows were curled.
Charlotte did not hide her happiness at all and looked at Mariah complacently.
“Nati, you go back first. I’ll go to you later.” Looking at Marcus‘ back, Charlotte quickly caught up with him.
Natalia heard Charlotte shouting behind Marcus, “Marcus, slow down. Your legs are too long.”
Marcus did not reply, but his pace
slowed.
Natalia noticed that and smiled. Obviously, Marcus also had feelings for Charlotte.
Natalia thought, “It seems very possible that my dear friend will make the man her man.”
“Ms. Todd, I will send you back,” Jalen, standing aside, said.

Marcus caused a problem. As his special assistant, Jalen had to solve it.
Mariah was arranged by Robert. On the surface, she had to be respected.
Mariah stopped looking and said with a gentle smile, “Thank you.”

By the small lake, the dense trees blocked the gazes of the students coming and going.
Marcus stopped.
Charlotte accidentally bumped into Marcus and let out a cry.
Marcus reached out and held Charlotte. He furrowed his good–looking eyebrows. “What were you thinking about?”
“I was thinking about why you looked so handsome even from the back,” Charlotte said confidently.
Marcus raised his eyebrows slightly, feeling teased.
Marcus let go of Charlotte, but Charlotte grabbed his arm and said pitifully, “Marcus, I sprained my ankle.”
Marcus
put his right hand around Charlotte’s waist and bent down. He gently held her legs with his left hand. Then, Charlotte lay in Marcus‘ arms stably.
Marcus carried Charlotte and quickly walked to the bamboo chair aside. He gently placed her on the chair.
“I’m fine. It’s not serious,” Charlotte comforted Marcus when she saw his tightly furrowed eyebrows.
Charlotte’s voice suddenly stopped.
Marcus bent down and knelt on one knee. He slowly lifted Charlotte’s foot and placed it on his leg. Marcus gently rubbed Charlotte’s ankle with his right hand. “Does it hurt?”
Charlotte couldn’t help but shift her gaze from Marcus‘ hand that was holding her ankle to his chest.
Marcus‘ strong chest went straight into her sight.
Just now, when she was suddenly picked up by Marcus, Charlotte accidentally pulled Marcus‘ clothes. One of the buttons on his silk shirt was torn off by her.
Charlotte’s face suddenly turned red. She swallowed hard and wanted to pounce on Marcus.
“Do you need me to help you deal with Terry?” Marcus carefully examined Charlotte’s ankle and found that it wasn’t serious. He was relieved,
Charlotte tilted her head and looked sweetly at Marcus. “Marcus, are you worried about me?”
Marcus was silent.
He did not reply.
“Marcus, I will not get engaged to Terry.” Charlotte’s tone suddenly became serious. She looked straight into Marcus‘ eyes with her bright eyes, which were like deer’s. “I hope the Gallegos Group won’t face me or my family.”
“If you don’t want to get engaged, the Gallegos Group won’t force you.” Marcus gently put Charlotte’s foot back to the ground, straightened up, and looked at her.
Sunlight shone down on the top of Marcus‘ head. Marcus looked taller and more charming. He seemed to be glowing.
“I believe it because of you.” Charlotte suddenly raised a bright smile. It was like a shoot of dazzling sunlight, shining into
Marcus‘ heart.
“Marcus, I want to solve Terry’s problem by myself. After I finish it, I have something to tell you. Wait for me,” Charlotte said,

looking at Marcus with her clear eyes.
Marcus‘ heart missed a beat.
It seemed like he had begun to look forward to it already.
