Chapter 20
“Charlotte, can you go there with me tonight?” Natalia held Charlotte’s hand and begged her in a sweet tone.
Charlotte thought for a moment and said, “Okay. I’m available anyway. I’ll go and protect you.”
“What are you going to wear? We should have chosen a dress for you too just now.” Natalia was obviously a little anxious.
Charlotte was carefree. “I’ll wear my casual clothes. I’m going because of you. I don’t want to dance.”
The banquet hall of Oldburn University was decorated beautifully. There were red carpets, white crystal lights, and colorful radium lights. It was modern and delicate.
Charlotte was dressed in casual clothes. Though not wearing any makeup, she still looked incredibly pretty. When she stood together with Natalia, who was dressed up, the scene was harmonious.
Natalia took Charlotte’s arm. They warmly greeted their classmates they knew and friends.
Suddenly, Natalia froze. Charlotte looked up.
Lisa held Dexter’s arm, and they were walking over from afar.
On the way, people greeted them warmly, “Hi, Mr. Thomson. Your girlfriend is really good–looking.”
Dexter was the son of the Thomson family and was currently working in a family business. Those who wanted to get close to the Thomson family, of course, would take the chance to talk to Dexter.
Lisa glanced at Charlotte and Natalia complacently.
“Charlotte, why are you dressed like this?” Lisa said in an exaggerated tone.
“Because I want to. It’s none of your business,” Charlotte said with an indifferent look.
Dexter’s gaze
fell on Natalia, and there was amazement in his eyes. Dexter always knew that Natalia was beautiful, but he never thought that her temperament would be so outstanding too.
“You look beautiful today,” Dexter said to Natalia.
“Thank you,” Natalia replied coldly.
“But someone doesn’t know how to appreciate it,” Charlotte said sarcastically
Dexter’s expression changed slightly.
“Dexter, let’s go over there.” Lisa quickly pulled Dexter to leave.
Natalia watched the two of them leave and clenched her fists in anger and hatred. “They are so shameless!”
Charlotte patted Natalia on the waist. “Go backstage and prepare for the opening. I’m going out for a while.”
“Okay, be careful. Stay away from that Lisa,” Natalia urged.
“Don’t worry. She doesn’t dare to go against me seriously,” Charlotte smiled.
Charlotte slowly walked out of the banquet hall and took out her phone. Suddenly, it occurred to her that she did not have Cordell’s number.
Charlotte thought for a moment and dialed Marcus‘ number.
The phone was quickly picked up. “Hello?” A deep and elegant voice sounded.
“Marcus, are you busy?” Charlotte asked.

“No. What’s the matter?” Marcus glanced at the executives in the conference room, who were all looking at him.
“I want to ask about Cordell’s phone number,” Charlotte said.
“What?” Marcus lowered his voice.
“I need his help with something,” Charlotte added.
Marcus did not speak for a long time. It was so long that Charlotte thought that Marcus wouldn’t say anything to her.
“I’ll send it to you.” Then, Marcus hung up the phone.
Charlotte was confused.
The executives in the conference room suddenly felt pressure from their chairman. They were so nervous that they broke out in a cold sweat.
They all sensed that their boss was in a bad mood.
“Half a month has passed, but there is no progress in the project. I don’t want to know why. I want a solution. Show me a practical and effective plan before you get off work tomorrow. The meeting is over.” Marcus was imposing.
People left the meeting room dejectedly, leaving only Marcus and Jalen in the room.
Marcus picked up his phone and sent Charlotte Cordell’s number. Then, he put his phone down on the table.
Charlotte received the message from Marcus in Line. She did not sense that he was upset at all. Charlotte even replied sweetly: “Thank you, Marcus.”
Cordell’s phone rang.
Cordell picked it up after a long while. “Who is it?”
The deafening music on the other end of the line made Charlotte frown. “This is Charlotte. Go to a quiet place.”
Charlotte remembered how crazy Cordell was about Natalia in her previous life. Otherwise, she wouldn’t even bother to call
him.
The sounds on the other end of the line gradually quieted down. Cordell’s leisurely voice sounded. “Ms. Dennis, what can I do for you?”
“Don’t let yourself go too far. You will regret it,” Charlotte reminded Cordell.
Cordell didn’t take it seriously. “I don’t steal or rob. I’m using my own money Why can’t I have fun?”
“Fine. I don’t want to discipline you.” Charlotte paused for a moment and then continued, “There is a chance for you to help the beauty. Will you come?”
Cordell laughed. “Is it you? Why didn’t you call Marcus?”
“Natalia,” Charlotte said slowly.
“What’s the situation?” Cordell asked excitedly.
“Do you know the annual school ball of our university?
“Natalia’s jerk ex–boyfriend brought Lisa, that bitch.
“Dress up and come to help.”
Charlotte ordered directly.
“You came to the right person. I will make Natalia look good,” Cordell said confidently.

“Then hurry up,” Charlotte urged.
“I’ll go right away.” Cordell whistled.
Cordell had just hung up when Marcus called him.
“Marcus.” Cordell raised his eyebrows.
“Why did Charlotte call you?” Marcus went straight to the point.
“She asked me to go over to help Natalia. What’s wrong?” Cordell said honestly.
“Where?” Marcus asked again.
“Their university,” Cordell replied. He suddenly reacted and asked, “Are you going there too?”
On the other end of the line, Marcus had already hung up the phone.
Cordell didn’t take it seriously and got in the limited edition Ferrari that Marcus had given him.
After the call, Charlotte returned to the ball and found that the ball had officially begun.
Natalia was eating dessert in the self–service food area, and she kept looking in the direction of the door.
Seeing Charlotte come in, Natalia quickly called out to her.
Dexter walked to Natalia. “Natalia, you don’t have a dancing partner today. Would you like to dance with me?”
Lisa glared at Natalia angrily.
Charlotte happened to walk over to Natalia. “Who said that Nati was alone? She is very popular! Not everyone is like you, who abandoned a gem for a stone.”
Dexter and Lisa looked upset because of being mocked by Charlotte.
Lisa reacted quickly. “Charlotte, Dexter has good intentions. He is afraid that Natalia will be bored alone. Since she doesn’t need us, we will go dance.”
Lisa was really a master of disguise. What she said sounded very polite and reasonable. After she said that, Dexter looked much better. He hugged Lisa and went dancing.
Charlotte looked at their backs and said thoughtfully, “If Dexter knows that you are the third daughter of the Yarnell family, will he regret it a lot?”
{
“Forget about them. Let’s go dance.” Natalia pulled Charlotte into the dance floor.
