Chapter 8
“Where do you want to go?” Marcus fastened Charlotte’s seatbelt.
“I want to go to the Hope Mansion… Can I?” Charlotte pursed her lips and said timidly.
The Hope Mansion was Marcus‘ private mansion. After making a fortune for the first time, he bought this mansion and named it the Hope Mansion.
It was said that Marcus named it with the name of his first love, Hope Ryan.
To memorize his first love, Marcus named this mansion the Hope Mansion.
The Hope Mansion was Marcus‘ property, and no one was allowed to enter without permission. Even Marcus‘ grandfather would have to ask for his permission.
The people who could enter Hope Mansion were Marcus‘ closest relatives, and Charlotte had never been there before her reincarnation.
Marcus looked at Charlotte with a bit of surprise.
Wasn’t Charlotte afraid of gossip?
It was so late, but she still wanted to go to his property. Wasn’t she worried about her safety?
Marcus didn’t know whether to feel happy about Charlotte’s trust in him or feel angry about her unawareness of danger.
However, Marcus knew that he would never hurt Charlotte, let alone allow others to slander her.
So, going there wasn’t a big deal.
Marcus did not refuse and started the car.
Charlotte cheered in her heart. Her eyes narrowed as she put on a smile.
She felt that entering Marcus‘ residence would be a good start.
The saying goes that a woman will be close to a man’s love if she can go into his place.
Charlotte imagined the beautiful scene of her falling in love with Marcus and fell asleep.
The Hope Mansion was not far from Dennis‘ place, and it took a bit more than twenty minutes to get there by car. Marcus parked the car and looked at Charlotte, who was sleeping soundly. He did not know whether to laugh or cry. Why did she like to sleep in his car?
On the way here, Marcus had arranged for the butler to prepare a room for Charlotte.
He looked at Charlotte’s sleeping face in silence and his heart softened.
He was afraid that Charlotte would catch a cold from sleeping in the car. Marcus patted her. “We’ve arrived. Go and sleep in
your room.”
Charlotte was in a daze. She dreamed of Marcus‘ lifeless handsome face when she reincarnated. Tears flowed out. “Marcus, don’t leave me, don’t…”
Marcus frowned. What nightmare was she having? He increased the strength of his hand and shook Charlotte. “Wake up.” Charlotte slowly woke up. She was unable to distinguish between the dream and reality.
Even though Marcus was still cold, the concern in his eyes was real.
She suddenly approached Marcus, wrapped her hands around his neck, put her head on his shoulder, and sighed, “It’s so good

that you are here.”
Marcus, who was mighty in the eyes of outsiders, was now stiff. He let Charlotte hold him.
Charlotte, who had calmed down, raised her head and stuck out her tongue mischievously. Then, she let go of Marcus, “Marcus, let’s go in.”
Marcus returned to his indifference. He calmly tidied up the collar that Charlotte had wrinkled. He opened the car door and led her into the mansion.
“Sir, you’re back.” The butler came up to Charlotte and looked at her curiously.
After all, this was the first woman who was going to stay in the Hope Mansion.
The relationship between them must be special, so he had to remind the servants to be careful.
“Take her to sleep,” Marcus instructed.
Charlotte looked at Marcus reluctantly and obediently followed the servant upstairs.
JMiss, this is your room. The bath water is ready. There is a bell beside the bed. If you need anything, just can ring it.”
“Where is Marcus‘ room?” Charlotte asked.
The maid looked at Charlotte with disdain. She thought of the housekeeper’s instructions and answered politely. “It is the third room on the left of the second floor. But Miss, Mr. Gallegos hates people disturbing him during his rest.”
“The third room on the left?” Charlotte was delighted. Her room was the third room on the floor where she was.
It seemed that they had the same preferences. They even chose the room of the same location on each floor.
“Alright. I understand. Thank you.” Charlotte smiled and thanked the maid.
She was in a good mood and didn’t care what others said.
Charlotte walked into the bathroom. The bathtub was filled with warm water. There were rose petals scattered on the surface of the water. Beside the bathtub was an incense emitting the fragrance of Jasmine.
She loved all of these.
She soaked herself in the warm water, and her nervousness was gone bit by bit.
Since it was not easy to come to the mansion, she would regret it if he did not do something.
Realizing something, Charlotte got up, ran back to the bed, wrapped herself tightly, and pressed the bell on the bedside.
Soon, the maid knocked on the door.
“Come in,” Charlotte said weakly.
“Ms. Dennis, do you need anything?” the maid asked respectfully.
“I think I have a fever. Please give me a thermometer.”
The maid looked up and found that Charlotte’s face was abnormally red. “Please wait a moment, I will be back soon.”
The maid walked out quickly and brought back a thermometer in no time.
“You may leave.”
“I will take your temperature.”
“No need. I’m not used to others doing that for me. Just leave.”
After all, Marcus brought her back, so no one dared to trifle with her.

The maid nervously left the room and reported it to the butler.
The butler reacted quickly Without wasting any time, he walked to Marcus‘ study.
He knocked on the door.
“Come in!”
“Sir, Ms. Dennis seems to have a fever, but she doesn’t allow the servants to serve her. What do you…”
Marcus frowned. He quickly got up and strode to Charlotte’s room. At the same time, he took out his phone and dialed a number. “Go to Hope Mansion in half an hour.”
As Marcus spoke, he arrived at the door of Charlotte’s room. Before the one he called answered, he hung up.
On the other side of the phone, Cordell Huffman was just about to curse when he found that Marcus had hung up the phone. His expression immediately became serious.
Was Marcus injured?
He stood up, grabbed the medical kit that he had prepared, and drove off.
After the maid turned around and went out, Charlotte knew that the first thing the maid would do was report it to the butler. Then Marcus would know about this. After all, this was her
purpose.
She touched the hot water with the thermometer and saw that the thermometer showed 39 degrees. Then she got back into the quilt and wrapped herself tightly, waiting for Marcus to come over.
Marcus gently pushed open the door. The moment he entered, he saw Charlotte looking at him pitifully on the bed.
“Marcus, I have a fever…
“I feel so bad…
“Can you sleep with me…”
Charlotte had come up with an excuse.
Marcus looked at the thermometer and touched Charlotte’s forehead.
Marcus‘ hand was so cold that Charlotte could not help shrinking her neck.
Marcus paused, and then he withdrew his hand.
Charlotte did not want him to touch her.
Charlotte was so annoyed with herself. It was not easy for her to have physical contact with Marcus, so why did she dodge it?
“I called Cordell. He will be here in a while. Take a rest now.” Marcus regained his indifference.
What? Cordell would be here? Why was it different from what she imagined?
Charlotte thought, “Marcus, I just have a fever. Don’t you think it’s a waste to ask Cordell to come here? I just want you to sleep
with me.”
If she was found to lie, how would she pursue Marcus in the future?
Charlotte was so depressed.
