“Corinne, you’ve been so busy with work that you barely have time for me. I’m a normal man–I have needs.“}
“So that’s your excuse for finding a lover?” I scoffed. “Normal men don’t cheat. You’re just disgusting.“}
Before I could say another word, Wesley appeared out of nowhere, stepping in front of me like a shield. He looked at Jude with pure contempt.”
“We’re already divorced,” I said coldly. “Why are you still clinging to me?“}
Wesley sneered. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll call you a shameless bastard?“}
Jude stiffened, clearly unsettled by Wesley’s open hostility.
“And you are?” he asked, irritation creeping into his voice. “Have I ever offended you?“}
Wesley let out a sharp laugh. “I’m her suitor.” He crossed his arms. “And unlike you, I actually know what kind of person she deserves.“}
Jude’s expression darkened. He turned to me, his voice edged with disbelief.}
“Are you kidding me? Are you doing this just to piss me off?“}
I didn’t bother answering. I just wanted to leave. But Jude wasn’t ready to let me go.”
“Corinne, I know I messed up,” he pleaded. “But it’s almost over between me and Adele. I was blind before–she’s nothing compared to you.”
He took a step closer, desperation creeping into his voice.}
“Come back,” he begged. “You, me, and Cassy–we can be a family again.”}
For a moment, I just stared at him, baffled by his audacity.”
Did he really think I’d just forget everything and fall back into his arms?!
Before I could respond, Wesley’s fist connected hard with Jude’s face.
The sharp crack of impact echoed through the empty hallway.”
“What kind of pathetic life are you living?” Wesley spat. “Who the hell wants to be your nanny?“}
He was right.
Jude and I had been married for years, and through it all, I had carried the weight of everything–both inside and outside our home. Between family responsibilities and work, I no longer had the luxury of feeling sorry for myself. My focus was on my career and the people who truly mattered.”
“That’s not what I mean! I miss you, Corinne. I really do!“>
Jude clutched his face, struggling to straighten up from the pain, but still tried to explain.”
Unfortunately for him, his words reached the wrong ears.
If you could run into Jude at Montclaire University, then naturally, you’d also run into Adele.
“What did you just say, Corinne?” Adele’s voice shrieked through the corridor.”
She stomped over, her eyes blazing with fury.}
“Are you seducing my boyfriend?” she accused, pointing a trembling finger at me. “You shameless woman! Even after the divorce, you can’t stay away!“?
Before I could respond, she lunged, pretending to tear at my clothes–dramatic as always.
Wesley stepped in without hesitation, grabbing her wrist and shoving her back.”
“Where did this lunatic come from?” he scoffed. “Is she sick?“}
Then he sneered, “Who the hell would fight with you over trash? If you have time to cause a scene, maybe use it to get your brain checked at a hospital.“%
Adele refused to back down. She turned sharply to Jude, her voice rising in desperation.
‘Didn’t you say you’d stay with me after the divorce?” she cried. “What’s the point of running back to her now?“}
“Is it because I don’t cook as well as she does? Because I’m not as considerate? But didn’t you also like my youth?“}
She clutched his arm, her eyes brimming with tears.}
*Jude, please don’t abandon me! Where can I go? I’m just a poor student!“}
Her pitiful wails echoed through the corridor, catching the attention of nearby students.”
Sure enough, people started gathering, some even pulling out their phones to record.
And just when I thought the show was over, she turned back to me with venom in her eyes.!!
“You’re still pestering your ex–husband in front of his current girlfriend?” she spat. “Just wait until I post this online. You’ll be scolded to death!“%
Ah. So that was her real goal.
I suddenly felt amused.
“This is the first time I’ve seen someone so desperate to get themselves cyberbullied,” I remarked, shaking my head.”
So, Adele was good at playing these little tricks after all.

I used to think she was innocent. That the money I gave her was truly for a good cause.”
Now, I realized I had only been feeding an ungrateful parasite.
She reached for Jude’s arm again, desperate for his support.”
But to her shock, he took a step back.
His gaze darkened as he looked at her.”
“I didn’t expect you to be this vicious,” he muttered. “Look at yourself.“}
“Dragging me down wasn’t enough–you want to make sure the whole world knows about it too?“}

“Get lost, you brainless thing.”
After work, I decided to go to the bar for a drink.
