I asked when I saw how terrible he looked, “Is Yvonne with you?”
Sean nodded. He pointed in the direction of the basement.
I was taken aback and walked down the basement. I pushed the door open. The basement had no ventilation or light. There was even the musty smell of dust.
Only a yellow light was kept on.
Yvonne was locked up here, chained up by the neck like a dog. She got agitated when she saw me. “Greta, get me out of here! You’re here for me, right?”
I frowned when I saw her this way. “What’s going on? Didn’t you say you and Sean were…”
Yvonne shook her head. “I–It was a lie. It was all a lie. Sean tricked me! He was doing all of that for revenge. He knew everything!”
From her stammering words, I realized that Sean had suspected Yvonne from the very start. He only got close to her to find out if she was the one who poisoned Winona.
It was not until the night when Sean told her that he hated Winona that Yvonne got full of herself and confessed everything to Sean. How stupid of her.
Sean then exacted revenge on her by locking her up in the basement and denying her food and water.
Yvonne had been kneeling here like a dog.
When Sean went to the hospital and found Winona gone, he got even angrier and vented his rage on Yvonne. Yvonne had almost broken down because of Sean’s torture. She was wounded all over.

I looked at Yvonne. “Do you need me to call the police?”
Yvonne quickly said, “Don’t call the police. If you call them they’ll find out that I poisoned Winona. You can’t call them. I’ll end up in jail!”
She waved her hands frantically. After some thought, she suddenly grabbed my hands and looked at me expectantly, “Greta, why don’t you confess to poisoning Winona? That way, I won’t be arrested. You’ve always been obedient. Take the rap for me, alright?”
I sneered at her and pulled my hands out from hers.
“Are you hearing what you’re saying? Why should I take the rap for you? Haven’t you enjoyed enough love since you were young?”
Yvonne glared at me. “Aren’t you my sister? You should help me by admitting to the crime. Otherwise, what’s the point of you being born?”
I sniggered. Yvonne still refused to repent despite everything and still demanded such things from me.
She was beyond hope.
