Book 2–The end
I stood there, staring at my father, my hands trembled, but I forced myself to stay calm. This was it–the decision I had been
running from for so long had finally been
made.
“I’m done, Dad,” I said, my voice steady despite the whirlwind inside me. “It’s
over. You lose.”
Matthew se
s eyes flickered with rage, his jaw clenched as he stepped closer. “You think you ve won? You‘ re nothing but a traitor. You should‘ ve stayed in line. I should‘ ve killed you when I had the chance.” His hand hovered near the pocket of his coat where I knew he kept that damn
weapon.
But just as he moved, I heard a voice–a shout–from behind.
“Freeze!”
I turned, and there they were–Daniel,

Calix, Blake, and Chlyrus, walking in like. an army, their eyes fierce and determined. I hadn’t even known they were close, but I knew one thing for sure. I wasn’t alone
anymore.
Matthew’s face contorted with disbelief. “You think they can save you, Daphne? You‘ re weak, just like your mother.”
I stood taller, my heart pounding in my chest as I met his gaze. “You‘ ve made your enemies, Dad. I’m not your pawn wianymore.”

Daniel was the first to step forward. His
red voice was calm, but there was steel behind

hallways, heading toward the authorities, I could hear the distant rumblings of a crowd gathering outside. Media cameras flashed, and reporters shouted questions, their voices a mix of confusion and
curiosity. The game was over, and the world would soon know the truth.
A week later, I found myself sitting in a courtroom, the weight of everything pressing down on me. My lawyer sat beside me, offering a quiet reassurance, but there was no escaping what I had to do next. I had to speak the truth, even if it meant condemning myself.
I took a deep breath before standing, every eye in the room fixed on me. “Your Honor, I stand before you guilty of killing Victor Salvani and others connected to him. But what you don’t know is why.”
The room fell into silence. I felt the eyes of the world on me, but this time, I didn‘ t flinch.
“My mother died because of corruption-

because a man like Victor Salvani could
manipulate the system, canceling her insurance policy just when she needed it the most. It wasn’t just that she was sick; it was that they saw her as expendable. She died because she was in their way. And my father… he was complicit. Matthew Rodriguez, the man who should’ve been a protector, sold my mother out. He forced her to leave me, and when she wouldn’t, he allowed her to die.”
I paused, the weight of my words sinking in. The room was eerily still.
“I killed because I had nothing left. The people who were supposed to care, who were supposed to protect the humanity, failed. And when I realized what my father had done, when I found out that the insurance company had been paid off to let my mother die, I did what I had to do.”
The courtroom was a mix of gasps and whispers, but I pushed forward, the truth spilling out in a steady stream.

“But I wasn’t alone in this fight. The Obsidian Knights, my friends, Daniel, Sue, Calix, Chlyrus, and Blake–they helped me. Together, we fought to bring my father to justice. We fought for everyone who had been wronged by people like him.”
I turned to face the judge. “Now, the world knows. Matthew Rodriguez is the mafia boss, thebcriminal, and I am not the villain you think I am.”
The trial was over, but my sentence had only just begun. I was sentenced to imprisonment, but with parole. It wasn‘ t the freedom I had hoped for, but it was the reality I had to face. As I was escorted out of the courtroom, the crowd outside was unlike anything I had ever imagined.
People, strangers had gathered outside the gates, shouting my name.
“DAPHNE YOU’RE A HERO! OUR HERO!”
I stood frozen, unsure of how to react. The alworld had labeled me a criminal, but now,

they were calling me a hero? It didn’t make sense. But as I looked out at the crowd, something inside me shifted. I wasn’t just fighting for myself anymore. I was fighting for all the people who couldn’t fight for themselves.
Ten years later, the world had changed. I had changed.
I stood on the steps of a new courthouse, the sun warming my face, and for the first time, I felt free. The parole had ended, and with it, my past. My friends were there, by my side, just like they always had been.
We gathered together, not just to celebrate my release but to honor Sue, the ones we had lost along the way, and the people who had made it possible for us to still be here.
“The world feels better,” I said, looking at them. “But it’s not perfect. People like my father, like Victor Salvani–they’re still out there, trying to control everything. But now, we can make it right.”

Daniel smiled, his hand resting on my shoulder. “We will. We always have.”
The Obsidian Knights were back, but this time, we weren’t vigilantes.
And I, Daphne Rodriguez, Captain of the Obsidian Knights, stand at the edge of a new dawn.
The past may haunt me, but it will never define me. With my friends by my side, we are more than just a team, we are a force of justice, a reminder that no matter how deep the darkness runs, there will always be those who will fight for the light.
