“I’m not feeling well. Maybe we should go home?”
I stood frozen in front of the entrance to a haunted house called “Oriental Horror“, refusing to budge.
I had miscalculated badly.
How could a big burly man and a violent little boy possibly be content with just riding the carousel with me?
The two of them dragged me straight here as soon as we entered, before I could even get
Leo looked at me with disdain. “What a scaredy–cat.
James tried to reassure me, “Don’t worry, it’s all fake. I’m here with you.”
“Why don’t you take the kid in and I’ll wait for you outside?” I suggested.

good look at the amusement park.
James looked a bit disappointed. “Leo probably wants the three of us to go together. Oh well, we can try again another time.”
Leo hung his head dejectedly, not saying a word.
I gritted my teeth. “Fine, let’s go. Haha, I’m not that scared. I was just worried about frightening Leo.”
The three of us bought tickets and joined a couple in front of us to form a group of five entering together.
I clutched Leo’s hand tightly. Before we even saw any scary scenes, sweat was already dripping down my temples.
“If you’re really scared, you can hold my hand too.”

James leaned close to my ear and said.
I was already on high alert, and suddenly feeling his breath by my ear made my whole body break out in goosebumps.
I almost screamed, but managed to lift Leo up and put him in front of me instead.

This was really ruining his haunted house experience.
What was so scary about this? He had seen real corpses when he was little.
Leo looked accusingly at James. James smiled helplessly and rescued the boy.

I had to admit, it felt more secure than holding Leo’s hand.
I didn’t care anymore and tightly gripped his arm back, pressing my face against it.
James was so tall, standing next to him made me feel truly safe for the first time.
The passageway was dark with flashes of red. Accompanied by the eerie screams of “Oriental Horror“, I kept my gaze fixed straight ahead, refusing to look around.
Until something touched my cheek.
I turned instinctively and found myself face to face with a bloody ghost bride, letting out a creepy laugh.
“Ahhh!! James James James!”
I leapt into James‘ arms, burying my face in the crook of his neck and clutching his shoulders for dear life.
“Ghost ghost ghost…”
James chuckled softly, but his arms honestly lifted me up. One hand cradled my head, patting soothingly.
“Don’t be scared, it’s all fake.”
I angrily bit his neck. “It’s real! I saw her laughing!”
James‘ lips curved up, even more amused. He nodded in agreement, “Mm, it’s real.”
I yelled even louder, “Then why did you say it was fake! You liar!”
James: “…”
What was he supposed to say then?
