The moment Janelle hit the ground, her mind went blank, and her heart nearly stopped beating
It wasn’t until she felt something moving beneath her that she realized she was lying on top of someone!
Catching a whiff of that familiar masculine scent, she turned her head. Much to her surprise, the face that appeared before her was none other than Drayton’s….
In other words, the very person who had rushed over to catch her just now was him!
At that moment, Janelle seemed to have lost all her senses. She stared blankly back at him. For a while, she was in a daze, her mind completely blank, oblivious to the pain in her body.
Drayton merely rolled his eyes at her, intending to get up. However, the excruciating pain in his back and left arm clearly indicated that his injuries were far from minor….
Though it was only a fall from the second floor, Janelle, an adult woman weighing more than forty–five kilograms, would undoubtedly cause significant harm to anyone she landed on due to the acceleration at the moment of her fall.
She couldn’t fathom if this man had taken the wrong pill because he charged forward without hesitation, risking being severely injured, to catch her with his bare hands. Clearly, he didn’t hesitate for even half a second to make such a move….
“Dray
Abigail was the first to rush to his side. Her face was filled with anxious concern. “How are you feeling? Can you move? Are you hurt anywhere?” She paused before continuing with her voice taking on a sharper edge. “Did you lose your
mind just now? Why on earth did you concem yourself with her?”
Meanwhile, Wallace and Rubina were also in a state of panic. They rushed downstairs and ran to Drayton’s side. They were apologizing profusely while also expressing their concern about his injuries. They were all extremely anxious!
As a fellow victim. Janelle sat paralyzed to one side, with no one showing concern for her well–being.
“Dray, seriously, what were you thinking, rushing over like that all of a sudden? Do you realize how dangerous that was! What if something had hit your head or any other vital part? You really scared the life out of me! Rubina couldn’t help but complain.
Gauging that Drayton was unaware of the whole story, Rubina immediately put on a stern face and unjustly scolded Janelle, “If you wanted to jump off the building to kill yourself, why didn’t you do it somewhere else! Did you specifically choose to disgrace us in front of our guests? Luckily, Mr. Quiller is unharmed. If something had happened, we would surely press criminal charges against you!”
Upon hearing those revolting words, Janelle’s face turned ashen, but she didn’t retort back.
Having just experienced a heart–stopping ordeal, coupled with the physical pain, she was still numb and disoriented…..
At that moment, Drayton also pushed away the others‘ assistance. Enduring the pain, he forced himself to stand up.
He cast a cold glance at the Haywards. Turning to the side, he said seriously, “Mr. Hayward, if I haven’t seen wrongly, your family is suspected of intentional homicide, isn’t it?”
“Uh” Wallace glanced at Amos, the culprit who was standing not far away, and heaved a sigh. He was at a loss of how to explain the situation.
Rubina immediately stepped forward to explain, “Dray, don’t make it sound so serious. What happened is that Wallace’s eldest daughter came to our house to cause trouble again. She didn’t hesitate to attack me, her elder, and Amos couldn’t stand it and tried to defend me. Who would have thought she-”
“Enough,” Drayton interrupted her impatiently, “I have no intention of meddling in the feuds of the Hayward family, but every time I come here, I’ll bump into something like this. It’s really off–putting! If your family matters aren’t resolved, we’ll have to postpone the wedding!”

to linger in this chaotic home any longer. With that, he walked toward the door with a cold demeanor
Seeing him depart so abruptly, and with what seemed to be a fractured hand, Abigail, his fiancee, was seething with frustration
Recalling how he had just recklessly saved Janelle and even mentioned postponing the wedding, she couldn’t help but shoot Janelle a venomous glare. Overwhelmed with emotion, she blurted out, “Your bich, how come you didn’t die when you tell just now? If you were dead, all the troubles would be over once and for all. We wouldn’t have to deal with so much nonsense anymore!”
